The Potemkin Party regime has been incessantly beating the drums of war and openly stating - from the Prime Minister down to its senior military and political officials - that it will launch a war of aggression against Eritrea to acquire what it calls "sovereign access to the sea" and "project maritime power" and presence in the southern coastal areas of Eritrea.

In recent weeks, it has tried to re-package this war agenda in terms of "self-defense" by fabricating various allegations against Eritrea.

In the wake of the upsurge of fighting in the northern part of Ethiopia, one of their senior Generals stated, in an interview with a local media outlet on 27 September last month: "... When we launch the offensive, we will not stop in Tigray.. Our main objective it to install our flag in the Red Sea".

The General also stated, on another occasion: "Mekelle is a mere stop-over, our ultimate destination is Assab".

So let us connect the dots. The writing on wall has remained crystal clear for more than three years now.

The PP's overarching objective is to create a fallacious narrative of "self-defense" to rationalize and camouflage its war of aggression.

This is the holistic picture of reckless and flagrant violation of international law which cannot be blurred through deceptive narratives.

Press Release

Ethiopia’s Deplorable Acts of Hostility

https://t.co/kmkxALIAuG

*"...In reality, it is Ethiopia which has been pursuing an agenda of incessant hostility – in effect, a publicly pronounced declaration of war – against Eritrea for three years in pursuit of 'the imperative of acquiring sovereign access to the sea' through the invasion of sovereign Eritrean ports and coastal areas".

*"...Throughout these trying times, Eritrea has displayed patience and restraint in the hope of averting a dangerous escalation".

*"...In the current circumstances, however, Eritrea has no option but to reciprocate in kind and severe all diplomatic ties with Ethiopia with all the negative corollaries that this entails".

#Eritrea's delegation, led by Foreign Minister Osman Saleh, is participating in the 81st UN General Assembly Debate. The delegation will conduct, throughout the Session, a series of crucial bilateral and high-level meetings reflecting Eritrea's steadfast commitment to the principles of the UN Charter & international law, inclusive and equitable multilateralism, and a just world order.

In this vein, FM Osman Saleh met yesterday UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for extensive discussions on vital regional and global matters. The Foreign Minister conveyed Eritrea's appreciation for the SG's services to the Organization and for his constructive engagement with Eritrea.

FM Osman further underlined the enduring importance of the UN Charter and the foundational pillars that it espouses - i.e. sovereign equality, territorial integrity, political independence, non-interference and the peaceful settlement of disputes.

FM Osman elucidated Eritrea's position on the Sudan that is anchored on support to a united, sovereign and stable Sudan; and a Sudanese-owned, inclusive political process supported by regional and international mechanisms.

On the wider region and especially in regard to the security of the Red Sea and Bab-al Mandab, FM Osman stressed Eritrea's support for safe maritime navigation and international cooperation, while respecting the sovereignty and legitimate interests of the littoral States. FM Osman also dwelt on provocative acts of Ethiopia's Prosperity Party towards its neighbours in flagrant breach of the foundational principles of the UN Charter and international law.

As it will be recalled, Eritrea was elected as one of the Vice-Presidents of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly. In this respect, Ambassador Sophia Tesfamariam presided over the evening plenary debate, during the opening day of UNGA81, on behalf of Eritrea and in her capacity as VPGA.

Profile Q & A: “#Eritreans are not only patriotic, but they are also Authentic” Ambassador Perseverance Mbuzeli

The multi-layered ties of cooperation and partnership between Eritrea and South Africa have grown with time; anchored as they are on closely aligned perspectives on vital issues of global governance as well as incremental programmes of cooperation on capacity building and investments in sectors of each-other's comparative advantages.

In the words of Ambassador Percy:
"...We believe in equal partnerships; we believe in smart partnerships. We do not believe in a culture of handouts.. We collaborate across various agricultural sectors.. we also collaborate on maritime-related matters, specifically in the blue economy...Furthermore, we have been promoting people-to-people relations through cultural exchanges... As I said earlier, the prospects for progress, development and smart partnership between these countries and their peoples are ever-bright".

Briefing by FM Osman Saleh on UNHRC Process to Foreign Diplomatic Community in #Eritrea

For the past 14 years, certain countries have cynically weaponized the UNHRC Annual Session in Geneva as a platform for politicized harassment against Eritrea. This charade has gone beyond limits and Eritrea is earnestly and firmly requesting its termination.

Excerpts from FM Osman Saleh's speech:

*"...While we welcome the opportunity to engage with international partners on issues of mutual interest, Eritrea remains committed to interactions anchored on the tenets of sovereign equality, mutual respect, non-interference, and genuine cooperation. For fourteen years, Eritrea has maintained a consistent, principled stance across the Human Rights Council, the General Assembly, and bilateral channels. Our position is settled. Continuing engagement bilaterally on the Special Rapporteur yields no constructive utility, and we will no longer expend diplomatic capital or finite institutional time debating a mechanism whose continuation has evidently become an end in itself".

*"...The mandate has evolved into a textbook case of institutional inertia and a recurring political ritual. This ongoing campaign has inflicted severe reputational damage by broadcasting a distorted, one-sided narrative through (some) official United Nations channels, manufacturing a false global perception that overshadows our domestic realities. It has acted as a clearinghouse for state-sponsored defamation, inciting external hostility and systematically polarizing international forums. Furthermore, by painting Eritrea as a volatile, high-risk state, it has artificially stifled the country’s tourism investment climate, deterring foreign direct investment and impeding economic development".

*"...Equally concerning is the profound financial burden this mandate imposes. For fourteen consecutive years, the Human Rights Council and the OHCHR have funneled substantial financial and institutional resources into a failed mandate. The millions of dollars in cumulative Programme Budget Implications represent a significant expenditure of scarce UN resources at a time of acute liquidity constraints".

*"....The pen-holders face a definitive choice: they must choose between encouraging the financing of endless, sterile political confrontation or supporting tangible, state-led capacity building that directly enhances the lives of our people".

*"...Let me dispel a persistent misconception: Eritrea does not reject engagement with the international human rights system. We remain fully committed to fulfilling our obligations through the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), treaty body mechanisms, and consensual technical cooperation, universal, cooperative instruments predicated on equal participation and consent. What we reject is the politicization and selective targeting of that system".
