@__MarieTherese_ Natalie - Ask St. Therese for help with your OCD. If you read Story of a Soul you will get the impression that she suffered as well. I can relate to your struggles. Mine spikes during PMS and post partum. I take low dose naltrexone and it helps the intrusive thoughts a lot.
@KeturahAbigail Hey, K - Not here to engage in the overall homeschool debate. Just wondering if you know how many really beautiful and rigorous Catholic homeschool curriculums exist and whether you may consider checking them out for your children. We use Mother of Divine Grace.
@MartyGriffinKD Have you ever been a smoker? Ask them if they'll try the Cape Cod trial hydrocortisone steroid treatment! It saved my mom who was in ICU with pneumonia two years ago!
@KristinCarrigg@Lurker01234 I think it's because today's parents are afraid of everything/everyone but in the 90's if you were say grade 5, you could be home alone in the summer or maybe with older cousins/neighbors. My sister and I were. Dad worked close enough to home to be there in an emergency quickly.
@rclu I was at a sleepover in middle school where all the girls pierced each other's ears. Lots of nurse moms so they actually did it pretty cleanly and properly LOL I did not participate - was the only one not grounded on Monday morning π
@BrianEntin Stop divorcing and remarrying! I'm only a casual true crime watcher and the number of cases where a child or a woman is hurt or killed by a new fam member is mind blowing. ALSO - crimes committed against women and children who are alone/unprotected after a separation or divorce!
@owroot Same - for a time we had two boosters and a reversed infant then a reversed convertible seat all three in a row in a Subaru Forester. The car seat lady on Facebook has done tons of research on this!
@omgsidewalks My great grandmothers were Anna, Nora, Mary, and Julia. We have these other names in the family tree: Esther, Miriam, Johanna, Virginia, Gertrude, Phyllis, and Catherine. I really wanna use Gertrude and go by Trudie but not sure more babies will come :)
@AmericanGidget@nickitruesdell Thanks! I think she has had a solid start (two IEW years, a year of St. Jerome's grammar) and we may begin right in seventh grade because the vituperation and encomium sounds really fun and up her alley. Did your student enjoy doing that argument style writing?
@AmericanGidget@nickitruesdell I am going to use writing and rhetoric with my seventh grader this year. Did you start him at the seventh grade level in that series? We've used fix it in the past and I think we will use it as a companion piece like you did!
@drantbradley Agree! Live liturgically and in accordance with your faith at home! Talk, pray together, etc. One way that my parish does extend the faith of my tweens is through group service projects.
@0riettaRose Get the book "Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons" and spend 7 minutes at the start of class every day teaching that day's phonics lesson and they will be able to read within a few months. That's the morally responsible thing to do.
@Timcast@poperespecter1 Get to know Jesus and you will be so glad you received the graces of a Catholic baptism as an infant. Read the Imitation of Christ. It's a very old spiritual book of short entries on how to be more like Christ.
