Yes!! I have been saying this for years! This applies to ELs especially. The idea that ELs can't read anything but one-pagers and short stories is appalling.

Rocked the opening of Gatsby this week with my juniors. Unpacked language and characterization. It’s been a pretty successful launch of Odell Literacy . Language sort was my creation to support ELL familiarity with language in the text!
