In this sophisticated review, the analysis showed that workplace LGB+ disclosure was associated with a better organizational climate, less discrimination , higher job satisfaction, and better mental health. https://t.co/YneSBSNx7q via @OSFramework
Today, first day of semester, is also the deadline I was given to remove a Palestinian flag from my office window. Obviously I won’t be doing that. I wrote to the VC and dean about it last night.
Dear Prime Minister Albo
I agree we are a kind nation
So please raise Jobseeker allowance
Not possible to survive on current rate
@AlboMP@AustralianLabor@TheAusInstitute
A reminder from @MarkOgge:
- 80% of Australia's gas is exported
- Gas exporters get most of the gas royalty free and pay no PRRT
- Gas exports have tripled Australian gas and electricity prices
- Coalition and Greens agree there's no supply shortage
- Big gas is taking the piss
Today’s @SatPaper draws together evidence of a lawless, parasitic managerial class destroying our great public unis: “Universities are now widely regarded as bad employers, even lawless bosses, with inevitable impacts on public support for their activities.” @NTEUnion
Banner drop in Parliament house today to demand @AlboMP stop approving new coal and gas.
@AlboMP you say you want your legacy to be climate action? Then stop approving climate wrecking coal mines #peoplesblockade#Canberrawave
We shouldn't have to keep doing this, but we do.
Financial mismanagement & poor governance ➕ no fix to university funding 🟰 job cuts.
We need more from @JasonClareMP. It is only the @NTEUnion standing up for higher education. Join today at https://t.co/3HYJmZDRWH.
I was at the @slqld memory awards function just now. Long time First Nations leader Cheryl Buchanan gave an impromptu speech, asking us to 'stop looking at what's going on in the US and start looking at Queensland!' she's right.
Devastating, short-sighted and shamefully irresponsible announcement by @UOW management today of 135 proposed sackings, including whole teaching departments such as history. All the while the VC is a partner in a consultancy firm reviewing the university’s operations. @NTEUnion
Today's report on Covid acknowledges the heavy university job losses caused by exclusion from JobKeeper

Staff are still feeling these cuts
And now, VCs are proposing a new round of job cuts to make up for their poor management since Covid
A follow up statement from @ACUmedia's Ally Network. So proud of ACU's staff and students this week. Big shout out to ACU's @NTEUnion branch too, who have also been tremendous.
On this @NTEUnion National Day of Action, as on all days, the Australian Women's History Network National Convenors stand in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.

The National day of action for Palestine on 23rd Oct called by the @NTEU was the result of months of hard work by @NTEU4Palestine members. We need this kind of rank & file action in all unions for Palestine!
As an academic at @ACUmedia, I believe the students who worked SO HARD to complete their qualifications deserved better.
They deserved to feel safe and included regardless of their orientation, their family structure, or any personal decision.
This was their graduation!
Abortion rights are fundamental to women’s rights. Queer rights are not up for negotiation. Joe de Bruyn brings shame on the union movement, as he has for much of his career. @ACUmedia management’s choice to give him an honorary doctorate brings shame on the university.
NTEU member & lecturer at RMIT, Dr Liam Ward talks about how the RMIT crackdown on free speech poses a threat to both the fight for Palestine & workers ability to industrially organise.
