@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 PJ runs the offense, so not really.
But you could be right. We will see what development looks like. Good news for us is what they were last year isn't going to be what they are this year. They will improve and have different roles, some will be primary players vs secondary.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Yup. And I built it off evidence observed over the past few years. Its hard to argue with Painter and PJβs recruiting, transfers, development, talent, and winning. To say he isn't doing all of that is just hoping things nose dive with zero evidence to support it. Good chatting!
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Maybe they backed out because he was going to Purdue? Idk. Point being, there is zero evidence to what you are saying. Painter is rolling in recruiting. And if the rumors are true, will continue to show in Hills class. Painter is thriving in NIL era.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Which transfers has he missed on due to money?
Also, the last class he just brought in is the best hea ever brought in. Ertel, Webber and Huan are all top 67.
Pierce had offers from top schools and chose Purdue. Guessing he was paid? They paid to keep guys like Smith and Edey
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 I mean, maybe he doesn't have the resources of duke or Louisville, but he is recruiting at the highest level he ever has (per the rankings) and more or less has gotten the transfers he wants, including Pierce over UCONN. He has what he needs to maintain their top 10 caliber teams
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Does it matter yes or no? Either way, it doesn't change anything I've said. You might end up being correct, but history and recency suggest Purdue is going to be good yet again.
Not sure what else you or I can say anyways. Its clear you don't believe Painter can develop.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Has nothing to do with that. And everything to do with history. You disagree, that's fine. But history suggest Purdue will be good. Painter knows how to develop players. So it stands to reason someone will develop. Painter is a great coach and has the train rolling
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 There are plenty is guys that can step up and become the dude. They were all role players last year because Purdue had 4 guys ahead of them. I'd bet someone steps up. Or maybe it's Ertel. It likely happens though.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 And here you are laughing, but he's done it for ten years, and you have admitted it. No reason to doubt now.
Once swanigan leaves, once carsen leaves, once Ivey leaves, once Edey leaves, once Smith (who we were told was nothing without Edey) leaves. So why doubt now?
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Development will happen. I think Cox and Harris are going to be really good. West supposedly is really good as well. I'll let Painter and PJ prove me wrong as opposed to doubt them. That's not to mention the freshmen.
Like I said, Painter just reloads. And he is doing it again.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Maybe, but is there any reason to think they wont be a top 15 team, sweet 16 elite 8 type team? Next years team isn't highly regarded, but assuming a couple guys take a step, its going to be pretty talented.
And recruiting is only getting better by the year. He just reloads.
@MaverickTy@kraigbowers34 Can you explain why they are leaving it?
But sure, Painter has shown over and over that he can just reload and have talent year in and year out. Not only that, he's shown that he can adjust his coaching and style of play to match his team. And PJ Thompson is a great OC.
