@run_it_back_exe@PGC1a_RB "On a scale of 1 to 10 my view of the overall story that eating eggs and meat are bad for you because they alter the microbiome and raise TMAO and makes you uniquely vulnerable to heart disease, I am very close to zero on that story being true"
@run_it_back_exe@PGC1a_RB https://t.co/cRavomw0u6
And even the newest paper https://t.co/0j9KExAt5c
Both support the idea that TMAO may be more a marker of underlying metabolic dysfunction than simply causual gut microbial metabolism of dietary choline
@run_it_back_exe Some of is related to his genetic testing miome stuff where certain people have different methylation requirements, I think he acknowledges 1200 is almost impossible without supplementation
@run_it_back_exe Yeah the amount of times it seems likes theres paradoxical reactions in the literature, leads me to believe we dont currently understand all thats at play here.
@run_it_back_exe So dietary choline is essential and benefical but my focus has been on the context of the system rather than the substrate. Get substrate to fuel acetylcholine production, but also want keep cholinesterase levels high to clear the acetylcholine
@run_it_back_exe In patterns of stress, decreased cholinesterase leads to excessive cholinergic signaling, but excessive cholinesterase or insufficient substrate can lead to increased rates of Alzheimers and other neuro degenerative diseases.
@run_it_back_exe Yeah I ask because its been a tough one for me to figure out too. CMJs research is pretty clear on the benefits, and he suggests closer to 900mg. But if you have effective cholinesterase, I dont think you need all that much substrate. Ive been around 300mg a day
@Johnnyp135DFS@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS I just see that as reductive to view it as an either or. Its a sensible step. Doesnt solve everything.
An obese person makes the decision to take the stairs instead of the elevator…do you spend energy telling them its not going to meaningfully move the needle for them?
@Johnnyp135DFS@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS Fair. Just dont think its reasonable to throw shade on every policy step along the way even if clearly its a sensible step, simply because one step doesnt move the needle enough.
@Johnnyp135DFS@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS If we cant get behind this specific push to remove titanium dioxide from the food system, then there really is no hope for alignment. Is there a reasonable pro-titanium dioxide position?
@Johnnyp135DFS@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS Im responding to a tweet that is casting shade on a push to remove titanium dioxide from the US food system. How is that unreasonable?
@Johnnyp135DFS@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS Good point. Because someone may disagree with them on a completely unrelated other matter, said person should now take a pro-titanium oxide in the food system position.
@SammyReidFI@Paydirt_DFS Ha. Not confident thats the problem either. But don't understand the hate on people trying to clean up something that is CLEARLY broken - our food system.
