@daydreamalot “Be more polite to the people stripping people’s rights.”
The powers that be have defined the rules of engagement & it’s all in bad faith.
It’s like watching the British all lined up nicely on the battlefield shocked that their enemy was in the trees.
@ZeeMatic1 There’s a difference between scrutiny and stating that your goal is to stigmatize someone over unproven allegations.
There’s no “both sidesing” this.
Let’s be clear about 2 things…
First of all, what Adam Zivo is trying to weaponize has no credibility. Guy wasn’t even a party to the court case. He didn’t get to tell his side of the story or defend himself.
But that isn’t what really bothers me about this.

I’ve posted here before about a relentless smear campaign against me using a 30-year-old sentencing transcript from a trial that wasn’t mine and which I didn’t even have the opportunity to testify in. The person who continues to smear me has never listened when I have corrected him, and it has put me in a position where I have no choice but to respond legally on the advice of my lawyer.
This week I took the first step, by sending a Cease & Desist letter to opinion writer Adam Zivo. I have asked him for a retraction and an apology, but if he’s unwilling to take responsibility for what he’s done, I’m preparing to take this case to court.
If it does go that far, I’m looking forward to finding out how exactly Adam got a hold of the court records in a trial I wasn’t even party to.
Read the Cease & Desist below, and stay tuned.
Can we stop pretending that you can’t condemn anti-semitism and the genocide in Gaza simultaneously?
Because you absolutely can condemn both.
I sure as hell do.
@NatePike Imagine calling someone who yelled “fuck your fascist pancakes” a perpetrator of an act of violence?!
Beyond bonkers. And really just fucking infuriating.
Watching a small group of progressives purity test themselves away from a conversation opportunity about the state of politics in Alberta is just bonkers to me.
This is why Conservatives dominate this province.

Do we want to have a conversation about the state of increasing authoritarianism in Alberta or not?
Conservatives rally around an issue.
All too often, Progressives fragment it until there’s nothing left.

@ZeeMatic1@guyfelicella Now I’m no lawyer, but just based on the above alone, this isn’t a SLAPP suit by any stretch.
And I say that as the subject of a $6 million SLAPP suit in Alberta.
@ZeeMatic1@guyfelicella Guy was (to my knowledge) never charged with uttering threats in that instance. He never had a day in court and he never was convicted.
So again, if Zivo had reported on just the ruling, that’s one thing. He took it a lot farther.
NEW: The Calgary Police Service has search efforts underway for a missing 11 y/o boy across several North Calgary neighbourhoods:
Cambrian Heights, Thorncliffe, North Haven, North Haven Upper, Highwood, Highland Park, Greenview, Greenview Industrial Park, and Nose Hill Park.
I get that some people might look at Guy and feel jealousy.
But here’s the thing…
If you want to be able to have the kind of impact that Guy does, you have to do the kind of hard work that Guy did and does to become who he is.
He’s certainly an inspiration to me.

All of this is to say that Guy has my full support in taking these steps.
And I would make the argument that Adam needs to seriously consider why he tried to weaponize these isolated and 30 year allegations that have never been tested.
