NHS Geriatrician in the South-West with an interest in perioperative medicine and major trauma. Big fan of campervans, mountains and a tonne of other things x
Thanks @GeriSoc for a fantastic #BGSConf it’s certainly given me a lot to think about and returning home with a renewed enthusiasm for my career #choosegeriatrics Belfast, you have been a delight
I have no words. Thanks to the
@thetimes who led with the story about 1/3 female surgeons being sexually harassed, even raped, at work, for
publishing this letter from an anaesthetist saying we should expect it!!
This is why it is still goes on
@wpsms_org@RCoANews
Bullying should not happen. Sexual harassment is a criminal offence NOT a routine part of medical training
Being a doctor is a hard career, but funnily enough the men don’t have to deal with the challenges of medicine whilst also having a consultant rub their penis up against them in theatre or commenting on what their breasts look like in a scrub top. It’s 2023 ffs this has to stop
Absolutely appalled that @thetimes would publish this today in response to yesterdays news article about sexual harassment of female surgical trainees in the NHS. Utterly disgusting. Please all consider signing this: https://t.co/BknR1sycdG

It is difficult to describe the sheer excitement, relief, accomplishment, and pride in the team that this achievement brings. But mostly hope that our findings will help people living with #Parkinsons now.
We’ve done it! 🥳👏🏻😃 Hooray!
Today at the 11th hour DHSC finally invited us to a meeting to discuss pay.
Unfortunately they weren’t serious and in typical smoke and mirrors fashion used this to kick the can down the road.
The Secretary of State once again did not turn up.
https://t.co/huGcdkxRei NELA shows frailty assoc’d with worse outcome (not new/surprising) but geriatric medicine input reduces mortality (5.9v9.5% in non-frail, 13v22% in frail). But isn’t routine practice! Lots to unpick but chat to @NHSiNet if you want to establish POPS
We're looking for an ST1-5 Trust Doctor and a Physician Associate to join our multi-disciplinary Older Persons Unit (OPU) winter ward team ❄️

I think most of us feel powerless to know what we can do in the face of the horrendous situation unfolding in #Ukraine️ but you could make a donation here to @decappeal#UkraineAppeal it’s not a lot but made me feel maybe 0.1% helpful
The Disasters Emergency Committee has launched an urgent appeal to help people fleeing conflict in Ukraine. #UkraineAppeal
The UK Government will match pound-for-pound up to £20 million donated by the public to this appeal. #UKAidMatch

Calling all trainees! (Geriatrics, Rheum, Endo, Ortho...) Apparently a few places still left on the Osteoporosis and Metabolic bone disease 3-day residential training course, Mon 28-Wed 30 March, Oxford https://t.co/5SO0SkF2u9 @GeriSoc@RheumatologyUK
Continually having to deny people access to their relatives in hospital and deliver endless bad news over the phone is the hardest thing I’ve had to do as a doctor. This government make a mockery of that. @joelycett I’m sorry you had to go through this, but you are my hero x
