Absolutely huge move from Rob: walking out of the follow-up to his favourite film series of all time halfway through, and not finishing it for 11 years.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) is the subject of our next episode, a movie Rob has only seen half of. Watch along this weekend and join us on Monday for a verdict over a decade late!
Quite poetic that this bonus episode about the exciting potential of abandoned masterpieces (and how other good things got made as a result) was born from the unfinished PhD of @NathanDitum. It's great and you should subscribe to our Patreon. https://t.co/ZLeTBR2K17
We have a new episode live this morning!
What does Dave make of Matt Smith's Doctor, and his two-part showcase of Time Of The Angels / Flesh & Stone?

Our first Patreon-exclusive podcast episode went live today, where we dissect 'Blink' - one of the best episodes of Dr Who (and TV in general) ever made. Join up through the link! https://t.co/cgyo1lmfzk
I'm unexpectedly emotional about getting to the end of TNG's run. Our rewatch encouraged me to finally see Picard S3, so I feel like I've said goodbye to my favourite Trek crew twice, simultaneously, in layered 30-year-delay stereo.
Nostalgia is cheap. But also I love it.
New episode is live this morning and - somehow - we've reached the end of The Next Generation's big screen adventures.
Time is merciless.
As were the reviews for Star Trek: Nemesis, though the Redshirt team... kinda like it?

@Jarvdusa Dipped into LD to understand the crossover ep with SNW, but I don't know if I'll commit to more. I actually enjoyed the crossover (the fandom seemed... less sure) but mostly because of the contrast with the non-cartoon crew.
@NotSoSkinnyPete Yes, even the core Pike dilemma (which I think works as a hook) keeps him safe. Everyone not in TOS, on the other hand, is on a goddam LIST.
@mrjohnmacleod I haven't looked into the deleted stuff tbf! I don't know if it caught me on a good day or what... I just really enjoyed it. Expectations were low, which probably helped...
@GwindaleeGrondl TNG for me, with a side of DS9 seasons 2-4ish and Voyager season 2.
God I just realised I sound like (WE SOUND LIKE) Final Fantasy fans 🥲
Happy Monday! Have you listened to our new episode yet? Why not treat yourself to some brilliant and hilarious Star Trek: First Contact opinions during your lunch break?

Revisiting a series in order is so revealing, and this process has been fascinating so far, gradually unpicking what Star Trek meant through the '80s.
And then RANKING THE FILMS WITH NUMBERS.
Our first ever bonus episode (Away Mission?) is live, to mark finishing all six (VI) original Star Trek films. Join us as we...
📈rank the films from 1-6 SCIENTIFICALLY

So we come to the final full original cast film...
I've been surprised - these last two tailenders, which I remember as a tired crew clinging on, have held up well. The series finds a firm, fond, near-parody energy that feels kinda indestructible.
Full opinions in Monday's ep!
