It took me 4 years to become a profitable trader
Now in the last year and a half I’ve done $400k+ in prop firm payouts
Here’s what was holding me back (so you can learn from my mistakes):
People say there’s no ‘right or wrong’ way to trade prop firms
But there 100% is
And the right way is:
•Risking more on challenges to pass them quickly (2-4% per trade depending what the firm allows)
•Risking less when you have passed to secure small payouts (0.5-1% per trade)
Prop firms love to see people spending ages on challenges because it means it takes way longer to scale up their capital and start getting payouts
And they just deny your payout if you risk too aggressively on the funded and make big % returns
Trade prop firms this way, it’s how I scaled to $6M+ in capital and get consistent payouts every month
Prop firm capital is hardest to accumulate at the start
But once you get the ball rolling, you can scale it really quickly
It took me 3-4 years of trading to build up to $1M in funding
Then I had one really solid month and gained 6% in payouts
I re-invested half of that into more prop firm challenges to scale my funding
Just a few months later I had $4M in funding
It took me YEARS to get to $1M in funding then just a few months to reach $4M+
The compound effect is real in this game, you might not see much results from it now - but it will build up quickly in the future if you stay consistent
Let me make this clear
I start off with 1/1 rr
But my rr actually averages out to 1/2 with adaption rule
With candle confirmation you can be insanely profitable with even 50% win rate
That's why this way is so good for your psychology because the 1/1 allows for wiggle room and imperfection
But at the same time you really don't need a crazy high win rate to be profitable
One of a kind
Use this SIMPLE risk management plan to make profit in the markets! 💰
To make $1M I only used 0.5% and 1% risk on my funded accounts
1:1 RR always going to breakeven ⬆️
1:2 RR full take profit ✅️
Very simple and effective! 💯
1/1 risk reward is not a holy grail
I know I talk about it alot because it is the best risk reward ratio
But i'm not saying you can't make money with 2/1 or 3/1 etc
I've taught many folks over the years and most do better when they switch to 1/1
I tried bigger rr at the beginning of my career and it killed my psychology
1/1 helped me level up my psychology way quicker when I made the switch
if you want the reality of trading
most times in the market,
you need to be doing nothing
it may be uncomfortable
it may be unappealing
it may be boring
but it is a requirement for consistency
because while the market is always moving,
it is not always presenting real opportunity
trading is unlike anything else
you do not get paid for the number of trades you take, hours you spend watching price, or attempts to catch every move
you get paid for making proper decisions
you get paid for waiting when necessary
you get paid for following your plan
all the real opportunity is in your system
so demand the market aligns with it,
no matter how long it may take
because that is where the money exists
maybe you have to wait a day
maybe you have to wait multiple days
maybe you even have to wait for a week
but you do not decide that, your system does
once you truly submit to this,
that is when your trading really starts
anything else is no better than guesswork
understand and commit to your system
disconnect from everything else
be willing to wait for your trade
and consistency will become a byproduct of your actions
I simulated equity curves for each of the four hypothetical strategies. The key constants across all are:
• EV per trade: 0.20
• Simulations per strategy: 100 equity curves
• Trades per simulation: 1,000
• Risk per trade: 1% of equity (starting with $100)
• Scale: Log

Question: After reading this and seeing the data, have you changed your mind about your choice? If so, why?
People told me you should always go for 2-3R trades and that is the worst advice I ever got
I started seeing profits when I went for 1:1s and 1.5:1s with higher win rates
Do what works for YOU
Trading success looks like:
❌ Year 1: Losses
❌ Year 2: More losses
❌ Year 3: Different losses
❌ Year 4: Learning losses
✅ Month 1 of Year 5: Everything clicks
The overnight success that took years

Switching to 1/1 risk reward would do wonders for your psychology issue
Big risk reward is terrible for psychology (for most)
