What happens offline has a knock-on effect on the online space. There is a need to challenge harmful gender norms, including everyday sexist references that objectify women. Hans stressed the importance of formally teaching consent, respect and dignity from an early age.

Many victims of cyber-SGBV often find it difficult to find the language to explain what happened to them and are not aware of the help that is available to them. @sarithairugal emphasised the importance of being sensitive to such realities when shaping response mechanisms.

Systematic barriers and ineffective remedies continue to act as drivers of #GBV. @Naushalya highlighted the need to sensitise, build capacity and awareness among justice sector stakeholders to help victims of cyber-SGBV to seek support and justice.
