Canada Day Week Traffic Safety Initiative

Canada Day week is a perfect time to remind everyone that lifesaving equipment only works when it’s used properly. The Brant County OPP are focusing on essential safety gear in and on your vehicles, including seat belts, life jackets, and helmets. These simple choices make a real difference in preventing serious injuries.

Another critical reminder: keeping your feet off the dashboard. In the event of a collision, the rapid deployment of front airbags can forcefully push a passenger’s legs upward, causing severe injuries to the feet, legs, and face. Staying properly seated helps protect everyone in the vehicle.

This traffic initiative runs from June 26th to July 5th. As we celebrate Canada Day week, let’s make safety a priority on the roads and waterways.

Initiative de sécurité routière de la semaine de la Fête du Canada
La semaine de la Fête du Canada est le moment idéal pour rappeler à tous que les équipements de sécurité ne sont efficaces que s’ils sont utilisés correctement. La Police provinciale de l’Ontario (OPP) du comté de Brant met l’accent sur les équipements de sécurité essentiels à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de vos véhicules, notamment les ceintures de sécurité, les gilets de sauvetage et les casques. Ces gestes simples font toute la différence pour prévenir les blessures graves.

Autre rappel essentiel : ne pas poser les pieds sur le tableau de bord. En cas de collision, le déploiement rapide des coussins gonflables avant peut projeter violemment les jambes d’un passager vers le haut, causant des blessures graves aux pieds, aux jambes et au visage. Rester correctement assis contribue à protéger tous les occupants du véhicule.

Cette campagne de sécurité routière se déroule du 26 juin au 5 juillet. Alors que nous célébrons la semaine de la Fête du Canada, faisons de la sécurité une priorité sur les routes et les voies navigables.

WANTED: Thomas Dean CAIN - Aggravated Assault

On Saturday, April 4, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers with the Brantford Police Service received a report that a 50-year-old male had been stabbed and a second male victim had been threatened.

Officers attended and investigation revealed that a 50-year-old male victim had been stabbed multiple times while at a residence located at Dalhousie and Brock Street.

The victim was transported to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant has been issued for Thomas Dean Cain, 41 years of age who is wanted for the following charges related to this incident:
• Aggravated Assault
• Assault with a Weapon
• Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Uttering Threats to Cause Dath or Harm
• Disobey Court Order

The name and photograph of the accused is being released to the public as police believe he is a risk to public safety. If observed, do not approach. Contact 911 immediately.
