One of the Team USA coaches shared an interesting story about Kobe Bryant that happened during the 2012 Olympics in London:

“The day before we were supposed to have a practice with the national team, I was lying in my hotel room watching a movie. It was 3:30 in the morning, and I was starting to drift off to sleep when my phone rang. It was Kobe. I answered nervously.

'Hey, Rob, I hope I’m not bothering you. I was wondering if you could help me with some conditioning.' Of course, I agreed. It was 4:15 when I headed to the arena, which took me about 20 minutes to get to, and Kobe was already drenched in sweat. After we finished the conditioning exercises, I went back to the hotel to get some sleep, but Kobe stayed to keep shooting.

The next day, I was supposed to be at the arena at 11:00. I woke up tired, exhausted, and in a bad mood. When I got to the arena, all the players were on the court, starting their warm-up. LeBron was talking to Melo, while Coach Krzyzewski was explaining something to Kevin Durant. Kobe was on the other side of the court, alone, shooting.

I went over, patted him on the back, and said, 'That was a really good workout this morning, Kobe.' He replied, 'Oh yeah, thanks for coming and helping me out.' Then I asked him when he finished, and he looked at me, confused, and asked, 'Finished what?' 'Well, the workout.' He replied, 'Just now. I wanted to make sure I hit at least 800 shots.'”
