Take a look at just how much money is being spent on private school vouchers—it’s alarming. All that money is being taken from public schools.

If you are lawfully registered to vote, show your ID, and vote early, some sore loser could still try to throw out your vote after the election.
That’s why I’m vetoing HB 958. Now I need your help! Call your legislators and tell them to uphold my veto:

This piece is just as disorganized as it is disingenuous. Downplaying HB958 as if its goal is not to impact when you can vote and if your vote counts. It’s vital to keep in mind that the bill was conjured up by the cronies of sore losers like Phil Berger and Jefferson Griffin, who would’ve liked to have these rules on their side in their recent losses.
The piece makes it sound like HB 958 is a small technical bill that stands alone. It isn’t. It’s one in a long line of many egregious actions Republican officials have taken to hoard their own power.

The GOP took >100 days to pass a budget, but 2 days to weaken your voting rights. They’re scared of their own voters—but we aren’t. Gov. Stein vetoed HB 958, and Dems will vote to uphold that veto, because we will protect every eligible voter’s right to cast a ballot that counts.
The General Assembly is trying to politicize our courts. An independent judiciary is critical to protecting the rule of law and your rights. I will always stand up for you.
The General Assembly wants to make it harder for people to vote and easier to throw out votes they don’t like after Election Day. This damaging bill eliminates a week of early voting in the primary, invites sore losers to try to overturn general elections by throwing out people’s votes after the race is over, and sows distrust in our elections. Instead of trying to undermine our democracy to cling to power, the legislature should focus on improving people’s lives and winning elections fair and square. I am vetoing this anti-voter legislation, and I urge North Carolinians to call their legislators to ask them to uphold my veto. In our democracy, political power rests with you – the people. I intend to keep it that way.

School bells are ringing, & our kids are walking into classrooms that still don’t have what they need.
With supplies, food & other costs rising, families are stuck paying nearly $4,000 per child to get through the school year.
🚨 This is what Republican leadership looks like.
FACT: July was the hottest month ever recorded in the contiguous US.
ALSO FACT: Whatley refuses to speak out against Duke Energy raising your utility rates, making it even more expensive to run your AC. Not surprising considering his ties to Duke Energy as a former lobbyist.
