We’ve heard your questions—thank you for your interest! NCIA is taking a short pause on our scholarship program to make some meaningful enhancements, improve accessibility and ensure it delivers the greatest possible impact.
Our goal is to give back to as many great organizations as we can through our community investment program. Last year was no exception as we marked our Million Dollar Milestone in community giving.
With major investment announcements by Dow Canada, Linde, Shell, ATCO Energy and others in the Industrial Heartland, the need for skilled workers is growing. The Heartland Industrial Career Forum on Jan 30 aims to close the labour shortage gap.

They learned more about industries in the Designated Industrial Zone, their broad collaboration and the significant advantages provided by the energy cluster. The tour was a great opportunity to showcase our leading-edge partnerships, efficiencies and environmental innovations.
On Jan. 13, NCIA, @ABheartland , and industry members from @KeyeraCorp, @Dow_Canada and @ShellScotford partnered with their colleagues in the Government of Alberta, including Alberta Environment and Protected Areas Deputy Minister Sherri Wilson, to tour several sites.
At Dow Canada (pictured), tour participants learned more about their $9 billion Path2Zero expansion project which will be the world's first net-zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions ethylene cracker and derivatives complex upon completion.

On August 21, Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, visited Shell Canada’s Polaris Carbon Capture project. Shell Member company Shell Scotford was touted by Freeland "one of North America’s most efficient and modern hydrocarbon processing sites. It supports thousands of good jobs in oil and gas, and petrochemicals. It also contributes to reducing Canada’s emissions".

An online tool to view regional noise outputs in Alberta’s Industrial Heartland was recently updated which allows users to zoom in and out of specific locations. The Regional Noise Model (RNM), which is publicly available on the NCIA website, was developed following a first-of-its-kind #noise #management effort implemented in 2013.

Construction activity is ramping up at @Dow_Canada's Fort Sask facility as they embark on their $10 billion, net-zero petrochemical project. With 500 additional workers currently conducting site prep, the workforce is expected to grow to 1,000 by the end of this year.
