• Emotional and physical abuse may hinder individuals from negotiating safe sex or accessing HIV prevention services.
• Fear of violence or stigma may prevent individuals from disclosing their HIV status or seeking treatment.
• Both issues are fueled by gender inequality, harmful cultural norms, poverty, and lack of access to education and healthcare.
