The meat breed you are, I think, referring to is the cornish x. It's a cross between a male double breasted cornish chicken and a female white rock chicken. It's selective breeding for traits, not hormones.

Let me educate you a bit. Several types of birds are used for meat. All of them are ready for processing approx 12 to 16 weeks old. Cornish x birds are ready at 8 to 10 weeks. The double breasted shape of the body and their tendency to over eat is what makes them desirable, as well as being ready to eat 1 month before the others. But the industry is moving towards heritage birds and the recently added Ranger bird, despite the time line and extra cost, because the flavor is so much better. Same size, better flavor, processed 4 weeks later.

No one is eating chicken filled with hormones, naturally or otherwise. You're loony if you think this is true. It's just selective breeding for certain traits that the two origin breeds possess. Fast growth, double breasted, calm demeanor, large legs.
