Kimberly Bryant, an African American electrical engineer. She worked in a biotech field at Genentech, Novartis Vaccines, Diagnostics, & Merck. After founding Black Girls Code in 2011, Kim was listed as one of the "25 Most Influential African-Americans In Tech. #BlackLivesMatter
Dr. Shirley Jackson - the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. from MIT (specializing in Physics). She leveraged her knowledge to advance telecommunications research at Bell Laboratories, influencing the portable fax, touch tone phone, caller ID & call waiting. #Blacktech
In 1958, Mary Jackson became NASAโs first Black woman engineer. She was an American mathematician & aerospace engineer at the NACA. Mary worked to influence the hiring & promotion of women in NASA's science, engineering, and mathematics careers. #blackhistorymonth#womenintech
Today we're honoring Dorothy Johnson Vaughn, American mathematician who worked for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics & NASA. In 1949, she became acting supervisor of the West Area Computers & the 1st African-American woman supervising a group of staff at the center.
