The Okongo Village Council has officially launched the Omaludi 4x4 Adventure Experience 2026 as part of efforts to promote tourism and stimulate the local economy.
The launch took place on 3 September 2026 at the Okongo Village Council offices, with the main adventure event scheduled for 26 September 2026.
The guided off-road adventure will take participants along designated 4x4 routes around Okongo before concluding with a picnic and networking session at Ombutu Camp, located about 10 kilometres from the town.
The event has attracted interest from several Namibian 4x4 clubs, including the Land Cruiser Club, Empire 4x4 Group and Amarok Club. The initiative is sponsored by Pupkewitz Motors, Tulaing Group Pty, Okongo Medical Centre and Ombut Campsite.
Okongo Village Council says the adventure is not a race but an opportunity to explore the area's natural beauty, promote responsible off-road driving and create business and tourism opportunities for the community.
The council has invited 4x4 owners, adventure enthusiasts, businesses and members of the public to take part in the event on 26 September.
