This week, Kerry Horton, Notre Dame Prep’s director of security and safety, attended the North American Active Assailant Conference (NAAAC) in Metropolitan Detroit alongside local law enforcement partners and public safety professionals from across North America.
As the world’s largest conference focused on active violence prevention, preparedness, response and recovery, NAAAC brings together experts to examine lessons learned from past mass critical incidents and identify best practices for strengthening emergency preparedness. The conference also honored first responders lost in the past year.
Participation in conferences like NAAAC reflects NDP’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. While our safety and security program is already recognized as a leader in the independent school environment, we remain dedicated to evaluating emerging threats, strengthening partnerships with first responders and implementing the most current strategies to help keep our students, faculty, staff and campus community safe.
Safety is never static. Through professional development, collaboration and proactive planning, NDP continues to invest in preparedness and resilience at every level.

World Environment Day 2026: A Global Call for Climate Action
Since the first celebration in 1972, World Environment Day has helped UNEP (United Nations Environment Program) to raise awareness and generate political momentum around growing concerns, such as the depletion of the ozone layer, toxic chemicals, desertification and global warming. This day has developed into a global platform for taking action on urgent environmental issues.
World Environment Day 2026 focuses on climate change—on the urgent signals the Earth is sending and the signals we choose to send back. UNEP’s global campaign calls on all of us to step in, to move further, to steer a world already in motion. The question is no longer if change comes, but how we guide it and how fast it happens.

Congratulations to Isabella Kaminskas, Nina Geric, and Antonella Kaminskas on being named first team all-state by the Michigan Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
WE ARE PROUD to celebrate the submission of Notre Dame Prep's lower school Apple Distinguished School renewal application and the outstanding video created by Technology Specialist and Apple Teacher Christy Brennan in partnership with our students and faculty.
The video offers an authentic look at learning tech at NDP, featuring lower school students and teachers, who shared their experiences and provided much of the narration. Their voices highlight how technology has become a natural part of the learning process—helping students think creatively, communicate confidently, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning.
As Brennan noted, “The best part of creating this video was getting to hear both teachers and students talk about learning. It showed how naturally technology has become part of what we do every day.”
NDP’s lower school has long been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School, a designation that recognizes innovation, leadership and educational excellence in technology-rich learning environments. Combined with our middle and upper schools’ longstanding Microsoft Showcase School designation, it reflects our commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities to learn, create and lead.
Thank you to Christy Brennan, our dedicated faculty, and our incredible students for showcasing the innovation and excellence that define the NDP experience.
Check out the video!

PotM to the whole team. Left it all out there….
“Tough times never last, but tough people do”
This is what it’s all about…. Not wanting to leave your teammates, your friends, and your school after your season comes to an end. This is what HS sports gives that’s different from any other organized sports….
The 2026 season has come to an end sadly. Battled hard and reset the culture to the level it needs to be. This one stings a bit now but so much to be proud of. Thank you to the 8 seniors for a great 4 years!!
