🔴 @CSAIRGlobal has officially sold all 10 of its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners in a bulk online auction, with leasing giant Avolon (via Bohai Leasing) signing the deal on Feb 27, 2026. Total market value: ~$532M, including two spare GE Aerospace GEnx-1B engines.
The 12-year-old jets, delivered in 2013-2014 and configured with 18J + 248Y, had been operating out of Ürümqi (URC) in western China. China Southern wanted out, citing a preference for higher-capacity wide-body aircraft and the fact that these 787-8s lack the updated maximum takeoff weight of newer variants.
So where are they headed? All signs point to Thai Airways, which has separately confirmed plans to lease 10 x 787-8s with deliveries starting soon. The Star Alliance carrier is aggressively rebuilding its fleet post-bankruptcy, and this would be a perfect fit while it waits on its factory-fresh 787-9 order.
