Today, we pause to remember the life and service of Trooper Mark Wagner #168, who we lost in the line of duty on March 4, 1999.
We will always remember the 13 Troopers have give sacrificed their lives in service to Nebraska.
The Nebraska State Patrol is mourning the tragic loss of Trooper Kyle McAcy #302, who gave his life in the line of duty this morning while assisting motorists who had been involved in a crash on Interstate 80 near Ashland.
Trooper McAcy has been a dedicated Trooper for 10 years and an incredible friend to countless people. Please keep his family, friends, colleagues, and all who have the honor of knowing him in your hearts following this unimaginable loss.

Remember the Fallen. Today we remember Officer Thomas Welch who was shot and killed in the line of duty on this day in 1866 and Officer Larry Minard who was killed by an IED in the line of duty on this day in 1970.
Honor the Fallen. Today we remember Burt County Deputy Sheriff Justin Smith who died from complications as a result of contracting COVID-19 in the line of duty on this day in 2021.
Today, we pause to remember the life and service of Trooper Duane Nichols, who was killed in the line of duty on July 24, 1958.
His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
This event will be hosted on the anniversary of Kolby Baber's death (EOW 8-17-2021). He was a NE Department of Corrections Officer that died from COVID and his name was placed on the wall in DC this year. Great event for a great cause. Please participate if you can.
During National Police Week, family, friends, and co-workers of Grand Island Police Investigator Christopher Marcello (EOW 7-27-2022) participated in the ceremonies and got to be there as his name went on the wall in DC. Honor the Fallen.
Kolby Baber, a NE DOC Officer, died from COVID (EOW 8-17-2021). His name was put on the wall in DC this year and his wife Kelani Baber and daughter Kenly attended.
