Can you imagine, at this very moment when Gov is falling apart & governing has become 2nd order to internal fights in LP (at expense of the country), there are STILL Labour MPs pushing consitutional chaos to ram through Assisted Dying Bill. Well done @nmdacosta for callimg it out
Kim Leadbeater’s remarks suggest ‘being a burden’ is a valid reason for assisted suicide. As sponsor of the assisted suicide Bill, this is even more disturbing. 😨
@KeruboSk Agh never!! Concealer, mascara, eyebrow pencil, brow gel (clear), a smidge of highlighter, liquid eyeliner over ivory eyeshadow, blush and lipstick. All in moderation, not heavy. I’m just too pale not to
“A major risk.”
Strong words from Hospice UK, who have been v cautious and neutral so far.
“It is unquestionable that there is a major risk of an already under-resourced workforce saying, ‘I can't hack this, this is too controversial, I'm gonna go off and work somewhere else.’”
In 2010 it was comedy. In 2026 it’s reality.
🤯 Under a Leadbeater/Falconer assisted suicide regime the poor can be killed simply because they are poor.
Falconer, single-minded, wants to set a dangerous precedent and end the Lords as we know it: line-by-line scrutiny curtailed, peers denied the chance to speak, 90% of amendments ignored. If peers accept this for a Bill ending people's lives, what Bill could it not apply to? 1/
Confirmed—and in the most forceful language I have ever seen the APM use on this subject.
“Lord Falconer cited, and misrepresented, expert evidence presented…by the Association for Palliative Medicine.”
Something very odd is happening behind the scenes on Kim Leadbeater’s Assisted Dying Bill.
Multiple sources say Falconer is talking up with Govt bypassing the House of Lords entirely using the Parliament Acts — and has been planning this since the summer 1/
Lord Bassam and Baroness Winterton, both pro-Bill, being incredibly rude here and talking over much loved, Peer of the Year, Baroness Grey Thompson, as she sets out how vulnerable pregnant women, the homeless and prisoners will in the AD/AS regime.
And he declined to tell voters - or even his own MPs - that this would be amongst his policies if elected. Which religious and ethnic communities in particular were deliberately deceived by that? What do their MPs feel now?
