What you see in this image are not merely ordinary columns; they are the historical columns of Tyre in southern Lebanon are iconic Roman architectural remains. They are part of an ancient Phoenician city-state that is now a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Israel is currently demolishing Tyre—a city more than 5,000 years old. Europe, Princess of Tyre, gave her name to those who, today, let her city be destroyed without saying a word.

Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

I had no idea thistle was edible until this video stopped me in my tracks.
Thistles have completely taken over my property for years — I’ve spent more weekends than I can count hacking them down, cursing every prickly inch, and dumping weed killer like they were the enemy.
Then I watched her walk straight into the field, slice a stalk with zero hesitation, peel back the armor, and bite right into the sweet inner core like it’s something she’s done her whole life.
Now I’m staring at the “weeds” in my yard completely differently. Have I been fighting a free wild-food buffet this entire time… or is this one of those things smarter people leave to the pros?

Imprisoned doctor Hussam Abu Safiya sent a message asking to reach journalist Anas Al-Sharif so that the voices and suffering of prisoners could be conveyed to the world—unaware that Anas had already been martyred.

His son, Elias, revealed that his father, who is living in harsh isolation in prison, still saw Anas as a voice capable of bringing the suffering of Palestinian prisoners to the world’s attention. Hoping his message would reach the public, he asked for contact with him.

The message reflects the severe isolation endured by prisoners, their determination to hold on to hope despite everything, and their constant search for any window through which the reality behind prison walls can be heard.
