Ima get serious with y'all for a sec. I see so much pessimism about this and things like Iriam isn't "ready" to go public yet.

Here's a TLDR of below: Iriam doesn't need to be a babysitter that prevents every possible problem, what matters is how we handle those problems that inevitably get through. It not being able to prevent everything doesn't mean it shouldn't open up

The longer version:

I'ma be real, I think there's a bit of a misunderstanding about what "ready" means, and truthfully I think we're getting a little too caught up with the idea that Iriam needs to be able to prevent every possible bad situation before it can open up.

Iriam, or any platform for that matter, will never be able to make a system that completely prevents a minor from lying about their age & getting into the platform, especially if they're determined to do so.
This isn't unique to Iriam

That doesn't mean moderation and having more safety measures doesn't matter, ofc it does. I just don't think "Iriam isn't 100% capable of stopping every minor from getting in" is a reason that they shouldn't open up.
Iriam already has requirements and stuff that creates friction, and in the latest dev diary they said they added additional age confirmation during signup

There will always be people who will unfortunately lie and get through. What's important is having clear rules and a way for dealing with people who break them, and that we enforce those rules both Iriam themselves and as a community to continue keeping the community safe

I'm personally excited for the launch, but I'm not looking at it and thinking "Iriam is ready and is going to be perfectly safe", it will never be.

I just don't think we should expect a platform to hold our hand and prevent every bad thing from ever happening. Again, what's important is how we deal with those bad things that inevitably do happen

the level of parasocialism happening between grown consenting adults happening on this app behind the scenes has lead to like 2 google dockeys min every month and streamers being kicked off the platform every other month because of it.

imagine that, with 10 year olds and 30 year olds.

i've been begging the devs every other month to solve the whole kids being on the platform issue, even giving them solutions for it like using an "code" the way vgen/oshi.to verifies their users by peers. i even emailed them about my bg and credentials of my irl self and about how i personally know the different the market will be compared to the japanese side and i got ignored/waived off.

they couldnt even implement a basic automatic ban by screening the chat for someone lying and got into the app to go in a streamer's chat and start yelling slurs and saying "im 10". incase non IRIAM viewer wonder the process of reporting someone saying slurs and claiming that theyre underage, its a manual process where you:

click the profile>settings>report>fill in reason*> a drop down option for type of ban*>proof>then back>then go back to the chat again>click their profile again>ban>confirm ban>theyre banned

OH!! also!! how can i forget! the kids who joins with porn pfp problem every other week! or coming in with an ai-ified porn art of our model too! despite them being "permabanned" every other week when the individual came back huh iriam?

instead last month theyre rolling with a "🤓☝️ we will now warn them that they will be permabanned if they lie about their age!" which has NOT solve any problem/ make a difference at all btw and now this?

respectfully iriam devs, you are NOT ready to open the door to the non japanese market.

im NOT gonna be associated with an app thats gonna be known for "yeah thats the app i got groomed in when i was 10 because in this day and age of 2026 for some reason theyre running with security measures a 2010 app does". if iriam do nothing to change im not gonna go back to the app after i get my IP from bond.
