As you go to work today and settle into the week, please study the form below. You will soon need to fill this out EVERY year and tell the government what you own and then allow them to tell you how much its worth.
That is the framework that is enabled by the Trojan Horse "Billionaire Tax" that is trying to get passed.
Give them credit: they cleverly use Billionaires as the hook, but build in the language and the framework that will allow the Legislature to simply extend the tax to everyone and make it yearly.
And this is where the form below comes in...
In this case, ask yourself, will it be you or the Billionaires that will be able to fill this out properly and avoid penalties.
As much as Billionaires can be pushed to do more for society, we all know that they have the infrastructure to manage these kinds of disclosures...middle class Californians do not and they will be the ones that get penalized in the end.
January 30th, 1982: The Water Bottle Incident
To really understand this one, we first need to set the table; as was covered yesterday, NoDak and Wisconsin are at the top of college hockey and the rivalry has never been more bitter. The Sioux had a reputation for being a mean, physical bunch, and they used it to their advantage. The venue for this brawl, the Dane County Coliseum, was widely regarded at the time as one of the wildest environments with some of the rowdiest fans in college puck. The fans sat almost on top of the benches, and they weren't shy.
With the Badgers up 3-0, NoDak forward Cary Eades skated past the Wisconsin bench when Badger John Newberry squirted him in the face with a water bottle (the second time that night he did it to Eades). Eades promptly entered the UW bench to "chat" with Newberry where he was met with a punch from Pat Eithier that set off a powder keg. They fought in the benches, on the ice and in the stands. At one point, a Sioux player and Badger rolled into the Beer Garden where a UW band member dumped a pitcher of beer into the NoDak player's face.
The fight set a WCHA record for the number of suspensions arising from one incident. A scuffle that perfectly embodies how these teams feel about eachother, it's one you really just need to watch (and listen to) to appreciate:
Median family income in the US increased from $10,000 in 1971 to $106,000 today, a 10x increase.
However, the median cost of homes increased from $25,000 to $445,000, a 17x increase.
And the median cost of cars increased from $3,600 to $50,000, a 14x increase.
The median cost of college increased from $2,900 a year to $45,000, a 16x increase.
And the average cost of healthcare per person increased from $350 to $14,600, a 42x increase.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY INSANE.
Rick Pitino was asked what stops people from being great. His answer was one word.
"Ego stops greatness. I call it edging greatness out."
"In a spiritual sense, ego is edging God out. But ego is edging greatness out."
And he made a key distinction:
"I'm not talking about confidence. You have to be a confident person."
"But ego really gets you to where you think you've arrived. You think you know it all. You stop learning. You stop listening."
That's the trap. Confidence keeps you hungry. Ego convinces you that you've already made it.
You lose your hunger and humility.
"Learning and listening are important for great leaders. Great leaders have to listen and they have to continue to learn and surround themselves with people that are better than them."
EGO = Edging Greatness Out
The moment you think you've arrived is the moment you stop growing.
Stay confident. Stay humble. Never stop learning.

The greatest motivator in the world is your ass on the bench. Ass meets bench, bench retains ass, ass transmits signals to the brain, brain transmits signals to the body, body gets ass off bench and plays better. It's a hell of a sequence.”

Toronto buzzes down, talks about it for 5 minutes and *conclusively* decides this is a hand pass from Brandon Hagel.
Takes a goal off the board and strips the Lightning of, at least, one point.
What are we doing here? Someone please explain that to me?
Jon Cooper and the Lightning found Nikita Kucherov’s overturned goal “laughable” after it was ruled that Brandon Hagel used his hand to pass the puck on the same play.
Did the officials make the right call, or is Cooper speaking the truth? ⤵️

BREAKING: @RobertKennedyJr Delivers Opening Statement Against the Weaponization of the US Govt
“Censorship is antithetical to our party. It was appalling to my father, to my uncle, to FDR, to Harry Truman, to Thomas Jefferson ... It [free speech] is the basis for democracy. It sets us apart from all of the previous forms of government.
He continued. “We need to be able to talk. And the First Amendment was not written for easy speech. It was written for the speech that nobody likes you for.”
