1974年，命运跌宕的韩国威权总统朴正熙再次遭遇刺杀时的真实影像。
继1968年朝鲜派出31名特战敢死队员潜入青瓦台行刺朴正熙，1971年朴正熙也以牙还牙，组建的敢死队却倒戈围攻自己后，1974年朴正熙在汉城国立剧场举办的光复节庆祝大会上再次遭遇了刺杀。
镜头中我们可以看到，1974年8月15日上午，已经连任四届的韩国总统朴正熙和夫人陆英修一起走进了光复节庆祝大会会场。而此时伪装成日本官员的刺客也已经安静地坐在靠近主席台的B排214号座位上。
10:20，朴正熙按预先的安排开始了自己的演讲。10:23，嘈杂的会场出现了一个沉闷的声响，总统警护室长朴忠圭立刻警觉了起来。略作迟疑之后，朴忠圭迅即起身，同时左手伸��腰部拔枪冲向主席台前。
但是我们可以看到镜头左下角，刺客已经从原来的座位冲到了演讲台的正前方，又连连开了几枪。军人出身的朴正熙反应迅速，发现刺客冲出座位后非常敏捷地蹲下，利用演讲台躲避。
但是坐在旁边的总统夫人陆英修是一位书香门第出身的大家闺秀，面对突然发生的一切直接惊呆，一动不动，并且随即头部中弹，侧倒在座椅上。此刻台下的一名安保人员也反应过来，从后面抱住刺客按到地上，众人一起上前合力将他控制住。
但是这一切发生的太快了，短短的几秒钟，刺客已经连开5枪。第一枪由于紧张打中了自己的腿部，第二枪则打在演讲台的左侧，第三枪是个哑弹，而第四枪很不幸地打中了坐在椅子上被震惊的总统夫人陆英修，第五枪打在了幕墙上。
另外朴忠圭仓促开枪还击的两枪，其中有一枪打中了合唱团的17岁女生张峰华，该女生当场身亡。很快头部中弹的陆英修被送往汉城国立大学医院进行抢救，威权总统朴正熙则很快稳定好情绪，待会场秩序恢复，非常坚定地将演讲完成后才匆忙赶往医院。
然而陆英修经过5个小时的抢救还是没能挽救过来，终年仅仅49岁。镜头中我们可以看到，1974年8月19日，韩国为陆英修举办了盛大的葬礼，政府大楼前聚集数万民众前来为第一夫人送行，整个汉城有200万人参加了悼念活动。
总统朴正熙在青瓦台的大门前安抚儿女们走开后，独自一人俯身趴在妻子的灵车上，随后掏出手帕偷偷抹去眼泪。这铁汉柔情的一幕通过电视画面转播后，让无数韩国民众为之悲泣和同情。
经过审讯，刺客的身份得到确认，他的名字叫文世光，是一名朝鲜裔的日本人，同时他也是旅日朝鲜人总联合会成员。因为不满韩国从朝鲜分裂出去，所以策划了此次行动。1974年12月20日，文世光被处决。
