I’m almost willing to let the misalignment of the eastern border of Montana and Wyoming slide, but what they did at the South Dakota tripoint is a hanging offence.
@SargentoCheese I’m not sure who runs marketing for you, but I was eating the best cheeseburger I’ve had recently, saw the commercial, and immediately felt disappointed in my cheese. Give them a raise.
Watch this all the way through.
This is a perfect example of what makes Americans different.
Everyone notices the big things.
The wins, the headlines, the moments the whole crowd claps for.
Almost nobody sweats the small stuff.
That two percent that looks like it does not matter.
The detail you could skip. The corner you could cut. The standard you could let slide just this once.
Here is what history keeps trying to teach us.
Empires do not fall on the ninety-eight percent.
They fall on the two percent nobody thought was worth the trouble.
The little crack you ignore today is the one the whole thing collapses through later.
Americans, at our best, are the people who refuse to skip the two percent.
That is the whole secret.
Mind the small things.
They were never small.

@FranWalsh73 The one counter to this (and why we skipped it) is if you run custodial trading accounts for your kids. Tax advantaged? No. But higher performance? Yes. Ultimately the higher returns compound substantially more.
I get asked often why do I do as many projects and startups as I do. It’s simple: have something for every interaction. Everyone is a future client, partner, investor, or mentor.
Saw this X post recently about how to "makeout for 30 seconds every day with your partner to improve your relationship."
Honestly, if you're with the right partner, you'll never make it to 30 seconds...
Pattern Recognition is also the form of intelligence that causes the most stress.
You will see things that others do not.
You'll feel crazy.
Things will be *so obvious* to you, and others will just deny it.
If you feel lost, build something.
A business. Your body. A skill set. Anything that gives you a reason to learn and focus.
Don't worry about choosing the right thing. Don't think about how difficult it will be.
Just start moving forward and you'll find a path that feels right
Saturday
Grabbed my laptop to check if the Amazon package I ordered shipped
Saw my analyst's green dot on Teams
Typed "plz fix" and nothing else
He responded in six seconds
"On it but which file?"
Read it
Didn't respond
Sent him a calendar invite for Monday at 7am
Subject line: "Updated Materials Walkthrough"
No agenda
No description
No materials
Nothing I'm aware of that needs to be fixed
He accepted in four seconds
Then he sent a follow-up: "Hey just saw this. Anything I should prep over the weekend?"
Didn't respond
Closed my laptop
My wife watched the whole thing from across the kitchen table
She asked what he did wrong
I said nothing
She stared at me for a long time
She asked why I do this
I said it builds character
She said "his or yours"
I didn't answer that one either
He will now spend his entire weekend rebuilding a model and deck that didn't need rebuilding
He will flag three errors I wasn't even aware of
I will cancel the meeting Sunday night at 11pm with no explanation
The deck will be better than the original
