The first bike ride of 2021.
Roads were very good. Riding around Lake Street brought up a lot of nostalgia.
I'm so happy to be here.

In the Twin Cities, removing I-94 between the 494/694 loop would make nearly 1,000(!) acres of land available.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of that land comes just from removing ramps and interchanges.
You never notice how much land interstates use when you're driving along them.

Day 13:
Biked to work and back, and after a bottom-bracket swap and light maintenance, I biked around the block again.
Very sad today thinking that less than 2 weeks ago we had a snowstorm, and today there was an alert that conditions were ripe for fire.

Day 1:
Biked to work in the morning and was absolutely flabbergasted by the amount of snow that fell over night.
After, I rode along the River until Dam #1 because a branch was in the trail and it was not plowed. Stopped at Blue Door and later went to Palmer's

Day 11:
Rode to work and back.
Day 12:
Biked one loop with a friend along Franklin to the River, and back via the Lake St. Bridge, and continued along the River to see how far I could get before crossing paths with another friend.
Construction of I-94 displaced over 24,000 people in Minneapolis and over 6,000 in St. Paul in the 1960s. The highway was routed through neighborhoods containing over 90% of the region’s total Black population, most famously Rondo in St Paul, home to MN's largest Black community.
