In the Arctic tundra of Alaska, climate change is forcing an Alaska Native village to relocate. Rising temperatures are melting the ice under the ground, called permafrost. The melted ice then mixes with the soil, creating unstable land the Yupʼik people call Alaskan quicksand.

Today marks 8 years since Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico, killing 4,645 people and destroying the power grid. Despite the meteorological catastrophe, it was Puerto Rico’s political subordination as a colony under the United States that exacerbated its vulnerability.
Incase you’re wondering what sparked the protest in Nepal.
Last week the Nepalese Government banned all social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. This came after a viral trend exposing Nepo babies on social media, showed how Government official’s embezzled money to sponsor their kids abroad while making life difficult for the masses.
The social media ban triggered a revolution.
Parliament was burned,
The houses of:
Finance minister
Prime minister
Home minister
Communication minister, were also burned,
Right now the Prime Minister was forced to resign and the Government has since lifted the social media ban.
My Nepalese friend that I texted to know if his family is okay, was more than happy to narrate all that’s going on🤣🤣
You’re making life difficult for the youths and still had the audacity to ban social media which happens to be their coping mechanism. Oya na, face them.

Super proud of this one @GlobalPress. We took a deep dive into the effects of the US aid pullout on Zimbabwe. Over the last decade, this aid made up 18% of Zim's health budget. As China steps up its investment, what does the future hold for Zimbabwe?

Here's a map of the road closures beginning Thursday night for the parade. GW parkway will be closed between US50 & I395 Friday morning until Sunday morning. Might want to stick with the neighborhood restaurants this weekend. For the full list of closures:

Last week #ElonMusk said that #Ebola funding was “accidentally” cut but restored immediately. Health workers in #Uganda say they’ve seen no sign that the funding has been restored.

It's not just about funding. The order's directive "was an immediate stop-work order for all US-funded international development activities." Even if programs had $ in their accounts, if it came from US development aid, all work must stop.

As the Trump Administration dismantles #USAID , officials sound the alarm: Babies in Nepal will starve.
See the dire warnings from #Nepal as the consequences of a world without USAID take hold.

Whatever you think about foreign aid, remember it amounts to “just 1% of the [US] federal budget” and improves if not saves the lives of real people around the world. This is just one example of the impact the stop-work order. https://t.co/et3vYAjd0s

Honored to edit this story from @Lucilapel where we put the record straight — despite what they say, lithium mines are directly affecting the water supply of locals, who in some cases, are forced to drink from a river with extremely high levels of arsenic. https://t.co/NZWvEfNpzn
