Per @OfficialTRNBCKL , WWE is positioning this year’s SummerSlam as a significantly expanded event, with WrestleMania 43 taking place in Saudi Arabia and the U.S. not hosting its usual flagship event next April.

Internally, SummerSlam is expected to feature major matches and storyline conclusions normally saved for WrestleMania.

One major adjustment is CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, which was originally planned for WrestleMania 43 but has been moved forward to this year’s SummerSlam.

However, plans were shelved after WWE was informed Brunson would be undergoing left wrist surgery.
