When Dry Bones Live Again
Ezekiel 37 brings us to one of the most powerful pictures in Scripture—the valley of dry bones.
These were not just bones, but very dry bones—a picture of hopelessness, defeat, delay, and situations that seemed beyond recovery. No life. No strength. No future.
Then God asked Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live?”
What a question.
Sometimes God allows us to stand in front of impossible situations—broken families, dying dreams, spiritual dryness, unanswered prayers, and seasons where everything feels lifeless.
But God is not asking because He does not know the answer. He is asking to awaken our faith.
Ezekiel answered wisely, “O Lord GOD, thou knowest.”
Then God said, “Prophesy upon these bones…”
Before revival came, the Word was spoken.
Before movement came, faith had to speak.
Before life returned, obedience had to happen.
And when Ezekiel obeyed, there was a noise… a shaking… bones came together… breath entered… and what was once dead stood up as a great army.
What does this teach us?
Never call dead what God still plans to revive.
Never give up on what God has only delayed.
Never bury what heaven intends to resurrect.
Your dry season is not your final season.
God can breathe life into your marriage, your ministry, your calling, your faith, and your future.
The same God who revived dry bones can still revive you.
The valley is not the end.
Revival is coming.
Dry bones will live again.

There were people looking for Jesus to break the rules, but Jesus looked for someone who needed help. They were troublemakers, but Jesus is a miracle-maker! He can bring a miracle to your life, too.
Thank you everyone who supported me on my pilgrimage to Canterbury over the last week - whether you joined me for some of the way, offered me a warm welcome, or prayed for me from afar.
You don’t make journeys like this alone. You depend on the kindness and support of others, and it teaches you something about how we all need each other - and the joy and life there is in embracing that.
The early Christians were known as “people of the way”. I think that’s still a good name for us today. We are pilgrim people, on a journey with God and with each other.
Along the way I have also seen so many local churches doing what they always do: offering a space of welcome, support and community. They are beacons of God’s love and care for the people in that place.
As I prepare for my Installation at Canterbury Cathedral this week, please keep journeying with me - and pray for me as I pray for you.

You can't deny God's calling. You feel it. Other people affirm it. Where you feel ill-equipped, they will build you up. If you have someone in your life who affirms God's calling on your life, tag them in this post with a "Thank you!"
One area where pastors, counselors, doctors, and scripture all agree is that intrusive thoughts can be discarded, not just endured. Share this post if you, too, have struggled with intrusive thoughts and what to do with them.
Being called a Christian shouldn’t be something we claim when it’s convenient. It’s a name we carry with purpose, because it means we represent Jesus Himself.
Before you say the name, live the name.
If you desire to represent Jesus well, comment “Follower.”
King at 8 and leading revivals in his mid-20s? We know from pop culture that young celebrities often take a wayward path, but not Josiah. As he turned toward God and returned his kingdom to covenant with God, he changed history forever. Comment "CHANGED."
Giving back to God is a reminder that you're not on your own. The same God who provides for you is the One inviting you to trust Him with what He already owns.
This is an act of worship.
Save this and share it with someone who needs a fresh perspective on giving.
Have you buried your talents because you didn't think God could use them? Or you're afraid to succeed because of what success looks like in the world? God says otherwise. God blesses with art. He fills with the Spirit. He's glorified in creating. Comment AMEN.
