@valdombre Isn't their language and culture Canadian now? Who the fuck moves to another country and expects the host country people to change for them.
I agree the time change needs to end. I also agree there will be different opinions. Most of the doctors and researchers that have covered this have come to the consensus that Standard time is better, it more closely matches the circadian rhythm. There ultimately should be a vote though, let the majority decide Std or Daylight.
@Tablesalt13 I'm sure it was there in the background for a long time but when it comes to CBC for me it seriously started to go downhill after Mansbridge left.
The province of Alberta in Canada used to distribute extra revenue from the oil and gas industry to citizens. I don't recall hearing anyone complaining about getting extra money while that was happening.
Countries should be in positions of generating revenue, not debt. Constantly running massive deficits is just pure incompetence.
You could always give your share to someone else if you don't want it.
I think that the times you will actually get to take advantage of the extra hour will be significantly less than the number of times it will impact you negatively.
Unless you happen to work very few hours and have loads of extra time to enjoy that extra hour. Most people do not.
Since most professional sports or concerts and events take place indoors with lighting, none of those would be impacted by it being darker earlier outside. Even outdoor fields have very bright lighting.
If you're camping or on vacation and not working it could be a bonus. I find for myself when I'm camping I tend to wake up early so I would rather have it light out earlier and darker earlier, plus campfires are more enjoyable when it's darker out anyways.
I deal with different time zones every day at work so I'm aware that Alberta is in MDT right now, UTC -6. It's 21:30 right now in April and there is still some light outside. That would be 20:30 in MST, which is still reasonable. There would still be light out until after 22:00 in summer in MST.
Most people are in bed before then anyways so arguing that you need more daylight later in the day is kind of a moot point if few people will stay up late enough to enjoy it.
Cancer is your bodies cells doing things they aren't supposed to do, generally due to ageing or other degenerative conditions. There technically is no 'cure' for that. A cure is treating something that has already happened. Stop thinking of it as a cure and think of it more as correcting the error in the code (DNA) before it even has a chance to cause a problem in the first place. Getting error correction to work all the time is the key. It requires a permanent solution, not a one time cure.
I mean, even on standard time in the summer there would still be light until after 22:00. It's not like you're really missing much. I highly doubt you 're going to have all these people now staying out until 11pm because it's light out. People still need to get up for work in the morning.
03:30 is a bit of an exaggeration. You make it sound like everyone will be taking advantage of that extra hour. It's not like kids are going to be outside playing in winter until the sun goes down. You're not going to be outside working on your car for an extra hour in the middle of winter.
@ChrisGoodwin79@HumblePhotog All the people that work 12 hour shifts that help keep others alive and safe and warm at night would probably be good with that. When you're waking up at 04:30 in the morning, waiting until almost 10am to see the sun in winter will be super depressing.
@HumblePhotog@ChrisGoodwin79 That's way too late in the day for sunrise. The US already learned this permanent DST lesson decades ago. They almost immediately switched back. Standard time is the most logical choice.
@MexicanRoyalty4@ecommerceshares It's fair to say that he was part of the process. But you could have literally put a monkey in that seat and the sales numbers would have continued to increase.
@Kartikez@Urban_GTA_6 You're assuming that the pirating exploits that existed in the past will continue to operate in the future. Now with AI like Mythos able to detect exploits in the blink of an eye, pirating will probably become far more challenging going forward.
@Urban_GTA_6 Hard to say. Considering less children are being born these days, there will be less children playing games and more teenagers and adults playing games. In any other scenario I would say no, but now I would say it could happen.
