Plymouth Branch Secretary @huwt_j is at out regional office today with other branch secretaries looking at how we can better support members across the South West! @NEUSouthWest @plymnut
Teachers! The prospect of a new school year is usually daunting, for some challenging. Remember that your work in the classroom with your pupils is what is important. Not data driven targets. You do the most important work possible and your pupils need you.
27,000 teachers chose not to appeal being denied pay progression. They are disillusioned and can't see the point. And yet if they engage with their union and appeal it then there is a high rate of success.
45,000- 50,000 eligible teachers didn't get pay progression. 30,000 of these teachers had no indication in advance. @huwt_j worked with members at his school and managed to win them back pay and progression!
@NickGibbUK On the question of school funding. Compared with the last school year England’s schools have 137,000 MORE pupils but: 5,400 FEWER teachers
2,800 FEWER teaching assistants
1,400 FEWER support staff
1,200 FEWER auxiliary staff

@TransDevon Very simply, this does not represent the view of our union as a whole. We have worked hard with out LGBT+ section to develop a toolkit to support members in supporting trans students.
