She's not wrong! The freedom to read is so important! Find out from a book before you find out in real life.
Let's make this the new universal book challenge policy:
Parents have every right to restrict what their own children are allowed to read. They have zero right to make those decisions for anyone else's kids. Ever.
@KateMessner Because we should all be "curiosity warriors!"
@kelseybogan I read Galaxy the Prettiest Star and Tell No Tales in February. I read Washington's Gay General in March, had great art work and learned a lot about Baron Von Stuben!
This is what it looks like. ๐ญ
Doctors are leaving Idaho. Nurses are leaving Idaho. Now librarians are leaving Idaho. This is what Republican leadership looks like.
For all the jokes we Librarians make about his productivity I'm glad he's speaking out for us.
He's not wrong!
Republicans and Democrats, get together on this one thing: Letโs stop book banning. What a terrible disgrace is happening in the United States. Librarians are being fired for refusing to ban books. Thatโs not the way to make America great again. Just the opposite. Reading the books we want to read is one of our freedoms. Choosing the books our kids should read is also a freedom. If your kids bring home a book from the library that you have problems with, you absolutely have the right to talk it out with themโyouโre the parent. In the meantime, read Toni Morrison, read @jodipicoult, read @johngreen. Hell, read my good friend @StephenKing. Thatโs your right.
This! It's all READING! โค๏ธ๐๐โค๏ธ
I listened to 98 books last year.
A draft of a new drawing Iโm working on. The idea for it was suggested to me by a wonderful elementary school librarian. โบ๏ธ๐๐
@NoetheMatt I want an audiobook!
@kelseybogan Lol, I like how you had to qualify "Not Firefly!"
Libraries do GOOD WORK!!
Libraries WORK because we do. @NYLA_1890 @YSSNYLA

Why would teenagers think we wouldn't notice them smoking actual ๐ฌ in the boys room?
@kelseybogan Honestly it's probably lobbyists and cost/innovation. Fireworks companies probably lobby and newer methods, drones/lasers aren't big enough to take over the market.
@LibraryBabbitt What does your employee handbook say? (If you have one) An hour and a half is a lot. You deserve to be compensated for the work. Comp the time the next week or some other time, if you can.
Preparing myself. If you have a tight book review policy please send it my way. https://t.co/rCxtNv7DxF
@aliciaandrz Three degrees from public colleges. I'm doing ok. My conference pin says "I hire @ualbany grads!"
You go Chattanooga parents!! โค๏ธ
"What about my rights? Why wasn't my voice heard before you decided to cancel this lesson?"

@AngelaLovesNY I'm sorry these nuts have it out for your books and your staff. Sending hugs. The bigot here did NOT get elected to the school board, so I hope that means there's hope! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
@CamillaPanda My new response to all unnecessary and inappropriate comments is "take your bigoted attitude home. You don't know what you're talking about." This shuts folks down pretty quickly.
Also you're beautiful and healthy โค๏ธโค๏ธ
