you are going to need mentors at every time of your education and practice. Some will be brought to you, others will appear at your periphery. If they guide and encourage you, keep them. If they belittle you in any way, FIRE THEM.

Over summer, I completed a research fellowship with BIDMC-Harvard’s Psych Residency program. I worked on a psychosocial intervention that aims to increase positive affect in suicidal adolescents and shadowed on multiple psychiatric services.🤩 I hope to return!🤞🏽 #Psychiatry
Does more research in medical school *really* lead to better doctors?
Or does it simply encourage quantity over quality; erect barriers for low SES/URiM applicants; calcify prestige hierarchies; and incentivize shoddy research?
(Sounds like a good research question to me.)
Mindfulness training.
Yoga.
No amount of such interventions is going to matter when a work environment is characterized by high levels of toxicity over long time periods.
