Japan is a beautiful and peaceful country right now. Will it remain like that forever? Can it change? How? Was Japan always a peaceful country? What caused Japan to build up their military and invade Asia during the 20th century? Is there a rise in far right extreme nationalism? What precautions does Japan need to take so it doesn’t happen again? History.

Japan has a proper military that is well-equipped and highly advanced. If you need specifics, they have aegis destroyers, f-35 stealth fighters, stealth frigates, and modern submarines just to name a few. Their military has one of the largest defense budgets in the world and considered top ten most powerful military. In addition to a tri-lateral military pact with South Korea and America.

I’m not saying Japan is going to invade Korea. All I’m saying is that history shows Japan has repeatedly attempted to take over Asia. If nationalism rises, military builds up, and history is forgotten/rewritten then there is a chance history can repeat itself. Unfortunately.

China? North Korea? North Korea’s threats are as dangerous as a toddler with a pencil. They wouldn’t dare to attack South Korea or Japan because they would get their asses kicked. The country is poor and the elite only care about keeping Kim Jong Un in power so they can stay in power. It’s about survival for them.

And China isn’t going to do shit. First, they’re focused on Taiwan more than anything. Second, their military while it looks scary on paper, is corrupt and weak. Their missles are filled with water instead of fuel. Their one-child policy back-fired and severely undermined their able bodied men to serve in the military. Japan does not need to mobilize their imperial military and start cranking out tanks to protect some fishing vessels.

Your first point is immoral and unethical. A country’s location, size or military weakness does not diminish its right to exist. Invading a nation that has not attacked you or posed an imminent threat is defined as a crime of aggression. And using that nation's territory as a launchpad for a larger war (in this case China) does not absolve the invading power.

Secondly, China’s aggression and threats can be dealt with politically and strategically. You don’t need a massive military specifically an invasion force military to fend off fishing boats. Japan has a military self defense force that is capable of protecting their country. If you think China is capable of taking over Japan, you are seriously underestimating the power of Japan and how difficult it is to take over a country. Russia can’t even take over Ukraine and their military is so much smaller. China will never conquer Japan. It’s near impossible.

To your other point, Japan and Korea are important allies. I am very glad that they remain strong allies and hope they continue to strengthen their relationship for many years to come.

But that doesn’t mean their relationship will be good forever. You don’t ignore history because it’s sunshine today. Japan is not a rabid dog now but have you read about their past? Japan was brutal during WWII. Dismissing history simply because we live in modern era is not smart. History isn't just a list of dead people and old dates; it is a user manual for human behavior. We learn from history. We grow as a nation and as a civilization from our past mistakes. Treating the modern era as an entirely blank slate means forcing ourselves to relearn history’s most painful lessons completely from scratch. That kind of thinking is what makes history repeat itself.

I think I made myself clear enough. If you don’t understand my position, I really don’t know what else to say.

I am not allying with China by calling out Japan’s history. All I am saying is that Japan has a brutal history when it comes to war and invasions.

Will Japan invade Korea? No. I hope not. But rise in nationalism, build up of military (not self defense, but heavy military), and forgetting history. These are all recipes for history to repeat itself.

The China threat can be handled with South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and US coming together. You don’t need military build up for that.

CCP cannot defeat Japan. As a matter of fact, Korea acts as a buffer and will not allow an invasion. Kinda like how the Mongols had to first conquer Korea to be a launchpad to invade Japan.

Anyways, CCP can’t even take over Taiwan let alone Japan which is protected by Korea geographically and politically.
