I want a word for the particular feeling of unbelonging that comes with being surrounded by people discussing an out-group that you belong to. Bonus for variants which reference contrasts in (hyper/in)visibility
@MichaelSkyer Yes. I found many of the tests listed on the site to be incredibly helpful for understanding my own cognitive systems, and also for supplementing the evaluation I’ve received from MHPs (which omitted consideration of several important factors for me, like masking)
@GemmaEliza I am a neurodivergent SLT living in Amsterdam, happy to chat over email and see if I can support you if you’re still looking for resources!

Alright friends! I'm doing a thread for my honors class. Who are your favorite Tweeters or Influences on Deafness?!
The idea is to experience many deaf perspectives!
I'm presenting in a couple weeks on if we can crip deaf ed. After ruminating about it for awhile, I believe my answer will be no. Quite frankly, most researchers, doctors, and professionals who work on deaf populations don't see us as /people/

Coming soon to a library and PDF reader near you ...

There is a potentially offensive upcoming film called "Boy Kills World" that is about a "...a deaf mute with a vibrant imagination..." The actor of the deaf character is Bill Skarsgård, who isn't deaf. Produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee.
Friends COVID is not a cold or even the flu — when you have COVID you need to *rest*. Rest like you’ve never rested before. I’m talking do not use your brain, don’t read books, don’t use the time to call your mom. Lay in the dark and pretend you are a rock as much as possible.
@ErinMoriartyH @KymPMeyer I know it’s not immediately contemporary but it could be an amazing thing to pull readings from for contextual / foundational theorizing
