Isn’t it strange how Kenyan media houses never speak up about the damage gambling is causing?

Citizen TV is a good example. Instead of warning people, they’re part of the problem. They run prime time ads for betting platforms and even feature people claiming to have won fifty thousand shillings. It’s a setup. Just a trick to pull in more victims.

This entire betting space is run by cartels. And once someone is hooked, it’s almost impossible to stop. Gambling has destroyed so many lives already.

SK Macharia, how much is enough? You know what it feels like to lose a child. Now look at the number of young Kenyans dying by suicide after losing everything to Aviator and other betting apps.

I used to ignore this issue. I used to think people who bet would suffer alone. But that’s never the case. If you’re not affected directly, you’ll feel it another way. Like helping raise money to bury someone who couldn’t handle the loss.

We have to speak up now. This has gone too far. Betting is wiping out an entire generation and the silence from media bosses and politicians is part of the problem. Something has to give. Enough is enough.
