What a lovely day for our trip to Newstead Abbey. The children experienced a lesson in a victorian classroom then went on a bug hunt in the afternoon. We even met the resident peacock! 🦚@primarywynndale

Lovely trip out to visit the historic and fascinating @Newstead_Abbey one-time home of the great British writer, poet, and adventurer Lord Byron. Lots to see, enjoy, and to learn about. Now going to have to get some books to read up on the subjects covered today! 🙈 Oh well.🤷🏻♂️
The Year 3 children really enjoyed using different sources to investigate the history of @NewsteadAbbey - in their presentations they were able to explain how it has changed through time and look at its significance now.
The monks of Newstead Abbey threw this eagle lectern into a lake, rather than let it be plundered by Henry VIII. It was found when the lake was dredged 250 years later. After a bit of a cleaning and restoration, it now stands proudly in Southwell cathedral. #History

Last week, Year 2 visited Newstead Abbey to learn more about their topic on the Victorians! They got to take part in a Victorian classroom experience and compare what this was like to being in school today! #history#victorians#enrichment
