New TokenEra

Crypto research for what comes next. Deep dives, tokenomics, adoption, risks & breaking news made simple. Evidence over hype.

Crypto doesn’t have an information shortage.

It has a signal-to-noise problem.

New Token Era exists to fix that.

We research:

◈ Tokenomics
◈ Utility & value capture
◈ Adoption
◈ Revenue & fees
◈ Supply & dilution
◈ Institutional activity
◈ On-chain data
◈ Catalysts
◈ Risks
◈ Breaking crypto news

No tribalism.

No pretending every partnership means a token is going to 100x.

No hiding the bear case because we own the asset.

Our goal is simple:

Do the research most people don’t have time to do — then explain it so anyone can understand it.

Welcome to the New Token Era.

AAVE: Could crypto lending reach beyond crypto wallets?

Aave lets users borrow against their crypto instead of selling it.

Now, a September governance proposal outlines something worth watching:

Institutions could borrow stablecoins against collateral held at Anchorage, with Chainlink connecting custody records to Aave.

Initially proposed collateral: BTC.

Why investigate?

This could open a lending market for institutions that want to keep assets with a custodian.

But the AAVE token needs its own investment case.

Our DD checklist:

→ Does the proposal get approved and deployed?
→ Do institutions actually borrow?
→ How much revenue reaches the DAO?
→ What ultimately benefits AAVE holders?
→ How are custody and liquidation risks handled?

An interesting expansion opportunity—not proof of adoption yet.

AAVE belongs on the research list.

“Earn 15% staking yield.”

Where does that 15% come from?

• Fees paid by users?
• Newly created tokens?
• A temporary rewards budget?
• A combination?

The source matters.

If rewards come from new issuance, your token balance can grow while your share of the total supply barely changes.

If rewards come from fees, investigate who pays them—and whether that activity is sustainable.

Then check lockups, validator fees and slashing risk.

More tokens doesn’t automatically mean more wealth.

Before comparing yields, compare what funds them.

NTE INVESTIGATES — CAKE

PancakeSwap can succeed without every trader buying CAKE.

So how does its activity reach the token?

Follow the fees.

Part of qualifying trading fees is allocated to CAKE buybacks and burns. That connects protocol activity to token economics.

But three distinctions matter:

• Volume isn’t revenue.
Low-fee trading can generate impressive volume with relatively little funding for buybacks.

• Burns aren’t net deflation.
New issuance must be counted too.

• A documented supply cap isn’t necessarily an immutable contract limit.
PancakeSwap’s docs state 400M. Its own audit repository says the token contract has no built-in hard cap. The complete enforcement path needs further verification.

Our assessment:

CAKE has a concrete value-capture mechanism worth investigating.

That alone doesn’t prove undervaluation.

The bull case needs durable fee-funded buybacks and controlled issuance. The bear case includes fee compression, weaker demand and changes to supply policy.

Price comes last. Economics first.

Disclosure: NTE’s founder holds CAKE.
