@GrayConnolly WWI was an unmitigated catastrophe. I had a rather elementary book I read about the war at about the age 6 or 7. I could never wrap my head around the whole idea of continental suicide. I read about it today, and still can't make sense if it
@tyler_x_harris@DeptofWar I had a Cpl put up for a Bronze Star. He deserved it. Bde said "if he was an NCO he'd be approved". They gave him an ARCOM with V device. I said "He is an NCO!" The reply from the Maj I knew in Bde was "well, if he was a Sgt or higher". Unbelievable.
@TheBabylonBee I once helped a coworker in construction move in the 1990s. He gave both of us $20 for gas. After we moved him in he said "you guys can pay me back later". Needless to say that didn't happen.
@Will_Tanner_1 Look at what Brandon Creighton has done as Chancellor of Texas Tech. He, of course, is getting pushback. Creighton is reforming the university to produce leaders, not drones.
@IndianaGPA In '88 our class voted for "Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd as the class song. I was on the yearbook staff, the school admins were aghast at Pink Floyd being chosen, so they went with "Heard it Through the Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye.. gay.
@infantrydort My original leave dates happened to cover my anniversary, birthday, 4th of July and 2nd row seats to Judas Priest. Pretty sure the fireworks wouldn't have been a good idea anyway.
@infantrydort Walking towards my plane on the tarmac with props turning. I hear my name called. It was a major I knew in Bde. "Sgt, the Army got your dates wrong." I was handed my rifle a few minutes later and was in a firefight in the courtyard of a U shaped apartment block 48 hours later.
@jammles9 Lemme get this "straight".. gun-control laws often disarm working-class and marginalized people while far-right extremists stay armed. I'm sure that far-right means right of Bernie Sanders. Truly far-right extremist are living in plywood cabins, eating Spam & eking out a living..
