Nigeria AT 66: Independence Without Freedom Is Not Independence
Today, Nigeria marks 66 years since the Union Jack was lowered and our green-white-green flag was raised. But for millions of Nigerians, the fundamental promise of independence, freedom, dignity, prosperity, justice, and equality, remains unfulfilled.
We cannot celebrate independence while our people are trapped in poverty, hunger, unemployment, insecurity, darkness, and hopelessness.
We cannot call ourselves truly independent when our children are denied quality education, workers earn wages that cannot sustain their families, hospitals are collapsing, the paltry electricity that exists remains a luxury, and those entrusted with public resources loot with impunity.
Nigeria’s problem is not its people. Nigerians are hardworking, creative, resilient, and extraordinarily resourceful. The tragedy is that successive ruling establishments have squandered our enormous human and natural wealth while demanding endless sacrifices from those who have the least.
At 66, Nigerians deserve more than ceremonies, speeches, flags, and further empty promises. They deserve equal rights and revolutionary justice.
They deserve a country where workers earn a living wage; where education and healthcare are accessible; where electricity works; where young people can build meaningful lives; where farmers can work without fear; and where no Nigerian is arrested, brutalized, or imprisoned simply for challenging those in power.
The task before our generation is not merely to celebrate the independence handed to us in 1960. Our historic duty is to redo it.
We must build a Nigeria that is genuinely independent, not just from colonial rule, but from internal colonizers enmeshed in monumental corruption, oppression, poverty, injustice, ethnic manipulation, religious bigotry, divisive politics, and the political establishment that has held our people down for decades.
Nigeria must work for everyone, not a privileged few.
The struggle for a truly independent Nigeria continues. #RevolutionNow

30 days of showing up on X. Done ✅
There were days I had gist.

But somehow, I still showed up.
CT, IVU, Mammography, X-ray, Clinical posting, Random thoughts, Cruise, Plenty nonsense too. 😂
Thank you to everyone who followed along, replied, liked, reposted and encouraged me throughout this challenge🤍.
I came here to test my consistency. I think I passed 😂

The day you stop needing everybody to understand you is the day you recover a lot of peace you have been giving away for free.
Being understood by everyone is not a requirement for living well.
YOU ARE NOT TRAINING RADIOGRAPHERS FOR A DEGREE.
An Open Letter to Every Radiography Lecturer in Nigeria.
By Dr. V. K. Nwodo
You are not training radiographers for the award of a degree. You are training the EYES of medicine. You are preparing men and women who will one day stand alone in an X-ray room, in CT, MRI or in an Ultrasound suite, with a patient who is trembling.
That patient will not know the difference between a Doctor, a Radiologist and a Radiographer. She will not care about your scheme of work, your course outline, your departmental politics or her degree classification. She will look into your student's eyes and call him "Doctor" - because to her, anyone in a white coat who holds her life in his hands is a Doctor - and she will say: "Doctor, please tell me what is wrong with me. Doctor, please tell me if my baby is okay. Doctor, please save me."
In that sacred moment, your lecture becomes her hope. The positioning you taught - or did not teach - will decide if a fracture is seen or missed. The pattern recognition you emphasized - or ignored - will decide if that pathology is seen or misdiagnosed. The radiation protection you taught - or did not teach - that will make him decide whether to X-ray a pregnant woman, will save or harm the child. The image quality you insisted on - or compromised on - will become the difference between an accurate diagnosis and a death sentence. The empathy you modeled will become their humanity.
A blurry image can bury a tumor. A careless report can end a pregnancy. A professional radiograph can turn tears to joy. Your classroom today is someone's diagnosis tomorrow.
So, teach positioning with purpose. Teach physics with patience. Teach anatomy with awe. Teach ethics with example. Mentor with responsibility. Supervise with seriousness. Assess with integrity.
Do not produce graduates who can only pass exams. Produce Radiographers you will be proud to lie on their couch. Produce Radiographers the world will trust with their lives, even beyond the four walls of the university.
You are not producing degree holders. You are producing life-savers.
Shalom.💝💝💪🏻💪🏻😁😁
I want you to think of it like you are sitting in a moving car with your eyes closed. What do you feel? You would notice that you do not feel the speed itself. You only feel the jerks when the driver hits the brakes or steps on the accelerator.
Our bodies are designed to feel changes in motion, not constant speed. Once the plane reaches 900km/h and levels out, you, your seat, and the air inside the cabin are all moving together at that same speed.
The reason it looks like you are crawling when you look out the window comes down to distance and reference points. When you drive down a street, the trees and poles are right next to you, so they zip past in a blur.
Up in the sky, the clouds and the ground are thousands of feet away. Because the landscape is so far away, it takes a very long time for any landmark to cross your field of vision. It is a giant optical illusion.
I hope you understand?
Scored 283 in JAMB 2020, only for my result not to be uploaded to UNILORIN’s portal. I retook JAMB reluctantly and got admitted to UNIOSUN to study Mechanical Engineering.
I never imagined I’d graduate with a First Class (4.57 CGPA).
Only God could do this. 🙏🏽

The Scholarship story. A thread🧵
In my 300 level, one email changed everything. Two years later, I graduated with a 4.10 CGPA in Mechanical Engineering. Here's how a scholarship turned my final years around.
hi guys. It’s Donye here.
I wanted to mention that my final MB (professional exam) is in the next few months. It requires a lot of prayers, dedication, studying & support from friends and family.
As I officially start my prep, I know I definitely cannot do this alone. I’ll appreciate your support in form of prayers & check-ups & any other form as I prepare for the final lap. It’s here. The chapter of my story God has been writing is finally nearing its finish line. God has done it. AMEN. Thank you guys❤️
