Great to have @minnesotalynx Video Coordinator @ImaniLewis34 join us tonight! She shared valuable insight on growing in the industry:
"Keep poking the bear to get all the experience you can in every avenue possible." #NextPlay
Coaches, what's the bigger key to long-term success: evolving your X’s and O’s to stay ahead, or staying committed to the system that built your program?
Early in my career, I thought having great basketball ideas would create opportunities.
I've learned reliability creates more opportunities than ideas.
Working at the P4 and mid-major level, 2 things are in common with head coaches:
They don't win every possession.
They move on to the next play faster than everyone else.
One thing I've learned from being around good staffs:
The best coaches don't try to prove how much they know.
They focus on helping players understand.
If you're a student manager hoping to coach someday:
-Learn Sportscode.
-Learn Synergy.
-Learn how to organize stats, schedules, and people.
The coaches who trust you with real work are the coaches who will hire you later!
If you want to build your network, start by building your RELATIONSHIPS!
Networking is more than a handshake or knowing someone's name.
The strongest networks aren't built through transactions—they're built through trust.
One thing I tell every student manager:
1. Don’t wait to be assigned responsibility.
2. Find something that saves your staff time.
3. Value gets remembered.
A great manager can:
1. Anticipate needs
2. Communicate clearly
3. Be trusted with details
4. Stay consistent under pressure
Basketball knowledge matters.
Dependability matters more.
Yaxel Lendeborg entering the NBA at almost 24 years old has become one of the biggest talking points in his draft evaluation.
But with the NBA’s second apron rules, could older prospects actually be more valuable than people think?

In non-conference play, the best coaches know this truth: Process > Product.
Whether you’re a P4 facing a Mid-Major or the other way around — stay locked in on the process, not the outcome. That’s how you build habits that last and growth that sticks.
