Tata Trusts (owning ~66% of Tata Sons) and the Tata Sons board are in a major dispute. On Sept 17 the board reappointed N Chandrasekaran as chairman for five more years and advanced listing plans. Noel Tata-led Trusts call the vote illegal under the articles and oppose listing. Top lawyers are engaged on both sides; the matter may head to court.
