Le Conseiller-Président Smith Augustin au 16e Sommet du Leadership du NHAEON à Miami

Port-au-Prince, le 31 janvier 2025 – Le Conseiller-Président Smith Augustin a participé au 16e Sommet annuel du leadership du National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON), qui s’est tenu à Miami, en Floride, du 24 au 26 janvier 2025.

Lors de cet événement réunissant des leaders influents, il est intervenu sur le rôle clé de la diaspora haïtiano-américaine dans la gouvernance, le développement économique et l’engagement civique en faveur d’Haïti. Placé sous le thème « Hope to Action: Amplifying Haitian American Voices » (De l’espoir à l’action : amplifier les voix des Haïtiens-Américains), le sommet a exploré les stratégies visant à renforcer la participation de la diaspora aux grandes décisions politiques et économiques du pays.

En marge du sommet, le Conseiller-Président a rencontré des représentants colombiens lors d’un petit-déjeuner de travail pour discuter des perspectives de coopération bilatérale. Il a également rassuré la diaspora sur leur droit de vote pour le référendum et les élections à venir, les encourageant à obtenir leur carte d’identification nationale afin de participer activement au processus démocratique.

Le NHAEON, plus grande coalition d’élus haïtiano-américains aux États-Unis, représente 22 États et un réseau de 170 membres engagés dans la promotion des intérêts de la communauté haïtienne.

La participation du Conseiller-Président Smith Augustin à ce sommet illustre la volonté du gouvernement de transition de renforcer les liens entre Haïti et sa diaspora. Son intervention a été chaleureusement accueillie par les participants, et plusieurs leaders haïtiano-américains ont salué son engagement en faveur d’une coopération renforcée.
