Q5: Social workers can start off by being an ally to LGBTQ youth, next we can show support by attending LGBTQ safe spaces, marches, and pride events, and we can push for laws and policies that include and support LGBTQ rights #MacroSW#SUsocialwork @DrAPOwens
Q4: I want to shed light on LGBTQ youth and their struggles. I am privileged because I am a heterosexual female in a heteronamtive society. I would like to use my privilege to be an ally to LGBTQ youth and help them fight for their rights #MacroSW#SUsocialwork @DrAPOwens
Q3: Before taking social work courses and interning, I did not have a complete idea of what it meant to be a social worker. This field has pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowed me to connect with my community, and work with diverse groups #MacroSW#SUsocialwork @DrAPOwens
Q2: The social work profession has positively impacted impacted our society by pushing for child welfare laws and welfare programs as well as advocating for mental health and reducing the stigma associated with it #MacroSW#SUsocialwork @DrAPOwens
Q1: A few years ago a social worker came into my little cousins life and I was able to see the positive impact that she had on his life and ever since then I have had an interest in the field of social work #MacroSW#SUsocialwork @DrAPOwens

@JTaylor961 It’s such a shame that the Flint water crisis is still an issue 5 years later. We live in a wealthy country yet there are people struggling to have clean water. We need to bring back awareness to this issue until there’s a resolution. #SUsocialwork
@leannwSU20 This is terrible. No child should have to endure abuse especially at the hands of people who are suppose to love you. It’s unfortunate that 17 home visits were made and this child still was not removed from the home for a second time for his safety #SUsocialwork
It's guilty until proven innocent these days. I commend this woman for educating these children and bringing awareness to this issue. The death penalty should be abolished, especially because some people on death row are actually innocent! SUsocialwork https://t.co/jTg3KDeSir
@AjiSarr2 This is so unfortunate. It feels like we have come so far only to end up taking multiple steps backwards. Nobody should get to decide when it is someone’s time to leave this earth especially due to the color of their skin. However, I am glad justice will be served. #SUsocialwork
@powelllauren70 @nytimes State by state laws are not enough. There needs to be a federal law to protect the LGBTQ community from discrimination in the workplace. The “T” in the LGBTQ community is just as important as everyone else in that community. #SUsocialwork
Mallard spent over a decade behind bars on false murder charges. He was eventually exonerated and offered a $3.25 million settlement. Is throwing money at these types of situations really the answer? Something else needs to be done. #SUsocialwork https://t.co/IClDyBQJgT
@AjiSarr2 I agree! Too many people go through things silently or try to put on a happy face. They should be allowed a safe space to let go and say what’s on their mind without fear of judgement or not being understood. #SUsocialwork
@powelllauren70 Although I am a Christian myself I agree. We are taught to be accepting but some of us cannot accept others who practice other religions or belong to communities such as the LGBTQ community. It’s time to start practicing love and respect. #SUsocialwork
School shootings are a tragedy within itself. It is disturbing that this young woman has a fascination with the Columbine shooting and decided to send threats to other school in that area. Praying for everyone’s safety during this time. #SUsocialwork https://t.co/LCu4kwWlcW
