National Housing Bank (NHB) celebrated its 39th Foundation Day today in New Delhi, marking nearly four decades of transformative contributions to India's housing and housing finance sector and reaffirming its commitment to the vision of 'Housing for All'.
The event was graced by Shri Hari Har Mishra, Additional Secretary, Department of Financial Services, as Chief Guest, along with Shri Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services; Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs;Smt. Sarika Pradhan, Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim and Shri Sanjay Shukla, Managing Director, NHB.
The celebration featured the launch of the NHB Term Deposit Scheme and a national-level Housing Design Competition, the signing of a Memorandum of Association with IIT Roorkee for technical collaboration, and the unveiling of the winners of the NHB Excellence Awards 2.0, recognising the outstanding contributions of Housing Finance Companies to India's housing finance ecosystem.

Guwahati Regional Office of NHB organized a training programme on the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF). The programme was chaired by the Chief Engineer, Technical Cell, Department of Housing and Urban Affairs (DoHUA), Assam.
Engineers and officers from AMRUT Assam, officials of the DoHUA, and engineers from the Technical Cell from Assam actively participated in the programme. The session provided a valuable platform for addressing queries and sharing best practices for effective implementation of UIDF.
As the part of National Housing Bank’s capacity-building and knowledge sharing initiatives, the Lucknow Regional Office organized an Online Training programme on “Appraisal of Individual Housing Loans – Legal Aspects for HFCs”.
The programme which focused on legal appraisal standards, compliance, and prudent lending practices, was attended by 30 HFCs.
Taking Urban Infrastructure Development awareness to the grassroots!
NHB's Kolkata Regional Office, in coordination with Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal @udmawb, conducted its first outreach programme on Urban Infrastructure Development Fund with participation from 52 municipalities.
The interactive session focused on scheme features, eligibility, and urban infrastructure project financing.

Kolkata Regional Office of National Housing Bank conducted an online training programme on “Fundamentals of Credit Appraisal and Lending Operations”, bringing together participants from 13 HFCs to enhance expertise in credit evaluation and lending practices.
NHB’s first Residential Certificate Program on Marketing and Sales in Housing Finance commenced on June 22, 2026 at the Institute of Leadership Development, Jaipur.

The Program is scheduled from June 22 to July 02, 2026 at the Institute of Leadership Development, Jaipur for HFC officials. This 10-day immersive learning program has been specially designed for fresh entrants with 0–1 year of experience in the marketing and sales functions of Housing Finance Companies (HFCs).
The National Housing Bank successfully conducted a two-day online training programme on “Legal Appraisal and Mortgage Creation in Housing Finance” for Housing Finance Companies (HFCs). The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 445 officials representing 47 HFCs across the country. Shri Sanjay Shukla, MD, National Housing Bank (NHB), participated in 13th World Urban Forum, held from May 17-22, 2026 in Baku, Azerbaijan and delivered a keynote address titled “A New Deal for Housing Finance.”

Successfully concluded the two-day Online Training Programme on SARFAESI & IBC Processes for Housing Finance Companies held on May 21–22, 2026.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 420 participants representing 47 institutions, reflecting the strong industry interest in strengthening knowledge and operational capabilities in recovery and insolvency frameworks.
The sessions enabled insightful discussions on SARFAESI mechanisms, IBC processes, emerging challenges, and best practices in the housing finance sector.

Strengthening credit culture across the housing finance sector!– The Bank successfully conducted online training programme on Credit Appraisal & Underwriting in Housing Finance for Housing Finance Companies (HFCs), with separate batches curated based on asset size on May 06 & 07, 2026.
The Session was handled by Shri S.Kalyanaraman Founder & CEO Virtuoskill. The programme focused on enhancing underwriting standards, strengthening risk assessment practices, and building robust credit appraisal capabilities.
A total 230 officials from various HFCs participated in the programme together on both the days.
