The National Security Council Secretariat has led a special operation with other state security and intelligence agencies to dismantle a high-level transnational syndicate operating a large scale counterfeit currency printing in the Greater Accra Region.

The operation, carried out between 12th June 2026 and 24th July 2026 led to the arrest of sixteen principal suspects across four printing hubs and the seizure of over $540,000, GH¢196,000 and CFA 60, 000 of ready to use counterfeit denominations.

Unprinted currency coupons also recovered from the sites include over $5.2 Million, over GH¢19.5 Million and over CFA 623 Million.
