The NJDEP has announced that NHSA is the recipient of a $300,000 grant for green infrastructure projects! The projects include the installation of three stormwater planter boxes, each diverting about 4,300 gallons of rainwater per storm event.

Our Collections Crews have been working ever since the storm ended. They clean and inspect all of the regulators, pump stations, and outfall bar screens. They also assist with cleanup of the areas hardest hit by flooding. A BIG Thank You to the team for all of their hard work.

It was a very challenging week for NHSA. We had over 3 inches of rain on Friday due to Tropical Storm Fay. It was the most rain since May 5, 2017. Our rain gauge showed a 15-minute peak intensity of 1.96 inches per hour, and that was after we already had 2 inches!

High Tide was at 1:34 PM, and both the H1 and H5 Wet Weather Pump Stations were pumping throughout the storm. The flows at the Adams Street plant were over 30 Million Gallons Per Day (MGD) for 8 hours, and were peaking around 36 MGD.

We had a very high intensity storm yesterday. Total rain was 1.59 inches on our rain gauge, and there was a peak 15-minute intensity of 3.72 inches per hour. Our crews our out inspecting and cleaning the regulators, screens, and pump stations now.

But we would apply additional criteria before submitting our recommendations to the state: relative community disruption, cost, and technical effectiveness.
